Dear NCHS Family,
Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a restful break, enjoyed the holidays, and time spent with family. I’m excited for 2021 and all of the beginnings a new year brings. No year has been more deserving of a goodbye than 2020, and I am thrilled to put it behind us.
While this year seems especially hard, there are silver linings. Quarantine gave us more time with family, we became more creative, and 2020 taught us to adapt. It has become our strength and what we are good at. We have become stronger, more resilient, and more supportive as a learning community because of it. Our staff and students clearly showed their strengths throughout the difficulties of 2020, adjusting and adapting to new learning strategies and creatively learning while being physically distant but remaining socially connected. Like many of us, I am hopeful and optimistic for a happier and healthier new year. I look forward to a school year where our classrooms are full, our hallways are once again filled with energy and excitement, and we can return to celebrating our school traditions without restrictions.
What the future holds for 2021 is unknown. However, we will focus on what we do know - our will to adapt, adjust, and forge ahead. We will enter 2021 with more knowledge, understanding, and hard lessons learned.
May the new year bring you good health, peace, and joy.
All the Best,
Bill Egan
Principal

NC COLOR DROP
In light of these unusual times, we are changing the NCHS Scholarship Foundation's 2021 fundraiser from the NC COLOR RUN to the NC COLOR DROP! Like many other things this pandemic has done, it has taught us to be more creative, caring, patient, resilient and generous with our time, our loved ones, and our community.
PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING TO THE NCHS SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION NOW:
- Visit NCHS-SF.org to donate now and get your tax deduction in 2020.
- While the NC COLOR DROP will raise awareness and funds this spring, we need the New Canaan community's support now.
- NCHS graduates will have more financial need than ever when they attend college next fall.
- 100% of donations go directly to scholarships for NCHS graduates. Let's all help where we can!
- NCHS Scholarship Foundation is a 501c3, registered at NCHS 11 Farm Road, New Canaan, CT 06840, FEIN 23-7102732.
HERE ARE THE NC COLOR DROP DETAILS!

- The participant whose golf ball drops from the helicopter and lands closest to the bullseye wins one of several great prizes, including the grand prize, a Peloton Tread!
- Purchase a golf ball for $25 and your chance to win! Tickets will go on sale Feb. 1.
- Dream of flying in a helicopter? Bid in the online auction for four seats in the helicopter, and experience the thrill of a lifetime as you watch the balls dropping from the sky! Auction opens Feb. 1.

NCHS Athletics Department
A Letter from our Athletics Director
|
|
Our strength and conditioning coaches have been conducting virtual conditioning sessions three times a week during the month of December. We think it is important to engage the winter athletes and help them prepare for the upcoming season. CIAC had delayed the start of winter sports until January 19th. We are expecting to receive new guidance by January 7th.
Dunning Field and both Water Tower turf fields will remain open during the winter months for recreation and exercise. Thank you to The Town of New Canaan for clearing the fields after last week's snow storm and understanding the importance of providing space for outdoor activities.
We are excited to move the Hall of Fame plaques from inside our trophy cases to the wall outside the athletics office. We want our HOF recipients to be visible to our student body. There are presently 92 members who have been honored every other year since 1996. Bill Tomey who won the 1968 Olympic Decathlon is one of many impressive NCHS Athletics Alumni.
