Bring on 2021!
From Scotus Central Catholic President, Jeff Ohnoutka

There is no doubt that we are all ready to leave 2020 behind us. It was a tough year but once again we showed we are up to the challenge. That challenge required that people step up and meet it head-on. It required us to be creative and innovative in finding ways to make sure that our school stayed in in-person learning. Catholic schools have a fighter's mentality.

We understand that our work ethic and expectations must match a desire to bring Christ to all who are part of our schools. This is what we are called to do, and it is our mission here on Earth. So, the pandemic is not going to change the high expectations we have or our pursuit of excellence. I think the following verse from Romans 8:18 sums it all up well.

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

Happy New Year!

Scotus One Act just misses out on Class B state
Congratulations to our one act team for placing second at the B-4 District Meet in York in early December. Great team effort by our students and coaches. We'd like to give a special shoutout to all the seniors who took part in their last year of One Act. Thank you for leading the way for our program!

Seniors: Lauren Betthenhausen, Maddie Blaser, Keira Feehan, Noah Korth, Clarissa Kosch, Christina Oakley, Simon Pichler, and Josh Styskal.

The play "MacBeth: A Tale of Darkness" earned the B-4 District Runner-Up trophy.
Winter Weather Closings Information

The arrival of January means the possibility of ice and snow and weather-related school closings. Scotus uses social media the local radio stations to announce any school closings due to the weather along with Civil Dispatch.

The earliest morning response is 5 am, unless the forecast was so threatening that closings could be announced the night before.

If weather necessitates that school closes during the day, all four Catholic schools will respond together. Mr. Ohnoutka will consult with the elementary principals before any dismissal is announced. A civil dispatch will be sent out.
Parents may pick up their student(s) or have them dismissed to drive home when there is threatening weather. Students are counted absent for missed time.

LFT Reminders from the Theology Department
Campus Ministry Students interacting with 7th graders in the fall.
The requirements for Living the Faith hours remain the same for this year. As always, students can find contact information for local organizations as well as upcoming service opportunities on the x2VOL dashboard, and the requirements for hours are detailed on pgs. 9-11 of the student handbook.

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
