Jill's Vision for January 2021:

Clarity
Thoughts...

Time is everything.
Each day we have twenty-four hours to create what we want to have.
We have the gift of getting up every day and deciding for ourselves how we want to live and love fully.
What does that look like for you? What is your vision?
It is more important now than ever to be clear on what you want.

Instead of resolutions, ask yourself how you want to feel at the end of the year.
Lighter?
Stronger?
More thoughtful?
Healthier?

Before you jump to the answer, close your eyes.
Begin with the end in mind.
Tune in to the feeling you get when you think about how you want to feel at the end of the year.
When it's the "right" feeling for you, you might get the chills or a solid, settling-in feeling, like putting a puzzle piece in its proper place.
Once you have it, declare it as true. Make the decision that yes, that is your north star and that is what's going to guide your way these upcoming months and weeks, each and every day.

No perfect right or wrong list, no bad or good list.
Simply a vibe, a feeling, a frequency you want to feel.

Once you are clear, write it down, tuck it into your heart, say it as a mantra, or visualize it every morning when you wake up. Then drop it into your days and let it guide you, organically, knowing that is the direction you truly, purposefully, powerfully and peacefully want to go.

This is your life.
This is the time.

This is the canvas YOU get to paint every single day with the colors YOU want to paint with. NO explanation needed.

Get clear on what it is you want, how you want to feel, and where you want to be.

Then, simply breathe life into your intention and move forward in faith, in trust, in freedom.

Enjoy January. Happy New Year!

What we're reading this month and why you should too...

"The Call of the Wild and Free "
by Ainsley Arment

If you are considering home schooling your children, this is an inspiring read.

It's also an inspiring read-whether your kids are older or still young-on how to work with your child's constitution and continue to guide them to use their strengths.

Some quotes from the book:

"What if we stopped treating our children like robots, capable only of inputting and outputting information, and instead treated them like human beings consisting of beautiful dreams, diverse intelligence, and natural talents?"

"Peaceful mornings are the reclamation of childhood. Diving deeper into subjects when things are getting interesting and changing course when things aren't going well are the best way to stoke a child's passion."

"No one loves or understands your children as you do."

January 2021 Sun/Moon Horoscope for All Signs

New Moon in Capricorn January 13th:
It’s like a mini New Years as we set intentions for what we want to achieve in the coming month--and year-- ahead. In the builder sign of Capricorn, this practical New Moon reminds us that we have to work for what we want, but doing the right thing does pay off both in honor and results. The New Moon is conjunct transformative Pluto, the planet of rebirth and personal power, helping us to take this clean slate as an opportunity to rise out of the ashes of 2020 like a Phoenix. Now is a good time to rectify any imbalances or resolve inequities in our lives.

Full Moon in Leo January 28th:
The Leo Full Moon opposite the Sun and Jupiter in Aquarius highlights the balance between personal desires and self expression and group needs and being accepted or “fitting in.” Leo rules the heart, creativity, leadership and bravery, so emotional fulfilment is found by allowing ourselves to shine as individuals. How can we take center stage in our lives and better share our gifts and talents with others for the greater good? Optimistic Jupiter offers us inspiration and courage to step up, embrace our true soul essence and show the world who we really are.

The Homeopathic remedy you could be using...

Belladonna (think fevers and sickness)

How you know you require Belladonna:

  • There is a sudden onset of symptoms, everything comes on fast!

  • There are throbbing, pulsating pains, often headaches, sore throats, ear infections, often with dilated pupils- can be right-sided only.

  • Person is hot to touch but with cold hands and/or feet, redness and heat of the face, red lips, glassy eyes.

  • Acute febrile conditions, high temperatures such as 103+ degrees.

  • Also, has been used historically for rabies.

Essential oils you need to know about...

Northern Lights Black Spruce
(Picea mariana)

The holidays may be over but the wintery, woodsy scent doesn’t have to cease! This fragrant oil comes from Young Living’s Northern Lights Farm in British Columbia, Canada. It’s a rich and invigorating aroma that can be diffused while relaxing by the fireplace or during meditation to create a natural, aromatic atmosphere. Add it to skin care products or apply it topically to help improve the appearance of dry skin or to help maintain the appearance of healthy-looking skin.

How to Use:
  • Spruce up your space! Diffuse for 30 minutes three times daily or set your diffuser to the intermittent mode.
  • Say good-bye to dry, wintery skin… Add one drop into an unscented lotion or oil of your choice (coconut or jojoba are great options) and massage into an area of your choice during your nighttime routine.

Dress to Express

In January, you can still have a lot of fun with your wardrobe. Here's how:

Camoflouge is still a must-have for 2021. You can find it in all different types of colors…my new favorite is the camouflouge with blue tones.

There are also super cute sweatshirt dresses at Old Navy in tie dye which I layer with a denim jacket or my new go-to favorite, the winter white shacket (a shirt and a jacket).

How about those rompers and joggers? They come in all types of fabrics and colors and are easy to wear. I found some really cute rompers on Amazon by Pretty Garden and Anrabess on Amazon. These rompers fit true to size and you won’t be disappointed. Joggers are also an upcoming trend and come in all different styles. I found cute, warm corduroy joggers at Anthropology.

Another hot trend is sweatshirts layered with a vest. They have an adorable sweatshirt at Anthropology that's perfectly acceptable to wear to work. I purchased one in hot pink.

I love a good winter wardrobe and hope you're excited to dress for Winter too!

Seasonal Recipe

Wintertime Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese Croutons

2 Tbsp. olive oil
1 small onion, chopped (1 cup)
2 celery stalks, chopped
1 carrot, chopped
1 can (28 oz) whole, peeled tomatoes
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
3 Tbsp. tomato paste
2 cups vegetable or chicken broth
1 bay leaf
1 to 2 cups cream, room temperature
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
4 slices thin-sliced bread
2 Tbsp. butter, melted
2 (1/4-inch) slices Cheddar cheese

1.) To make soup: In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion, celery, and carrot and cook until tender, about 10 minutes. Add whole tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, broth and bay leaf. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook until carrots are very tender, about 30 minutes. Add cream, as desired. With an immersion blender, puree soup until smooth (or puree in batches in a food processor fitted with knife blade.) Season to taste with salt and pepper.
2.) To make croutons: Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat. Brush one side of each bread slice with butter. Place two slices in the pan, buttered side down. Top with one slice of cheese each, then top with remaining slices of bread, buttered side up. Grill 2-3 minutes, until toasted; turn and grill other side. Cut into 1-inch squares. Serve soup hot, topped with a few croutons per serving.

Fitness

Get Started First Thing

Whatever your fitness routine this month, consider getting up earlier to get it started. When you get up earlier to get your work out in, you get your endorphins going sooner, you raise your serotonin level first thing, you start the day powerfully; plus...it's over! Even getting up fifteen minutes earlier to start this process sets you on a new course.
