In 1800, Joseon, in what will later become Korea, a young orphan girl named Seol is living out an ancient curse: "May you live in interesting times." Indentured to the police bureau, Seol assists a respected young investigator. When the investigator becomes the prime suspect in a noblewoman's murder, Seol may be the only one who can uncover the true killer.
