Hi Everyone —
This edition of my e-Newsletter is all about sharing information. About a year ago Division Point announced they were producing in HO scale brass, three different Great Northern Railway cabooses. GN X-310, the GN X1-X30 series, and the GN's famous Hutchinson Line long baggage caboose as GN X-100, GN X-181, and BN 11272. Those models are due to arrive shortly from Korea.
The research team asked me for some help in regards to the various incarnations of the X-310 and BN 11444. In particular, about how the roof of this car was painted. GN X-310 is a one-of-a-kind caboose—home built by Great Northern in 1955 at their St. Cloud, Minnesota Car Shops—and saying that it's difficult to find good photos of it would be an understatement. My research turned up five (5) distinct versions of this prototype. I'm happy to share these views with you today so that we're all aware of what X-310 looked like during its service life on Great Northern / Burlington Northern.
As this is a one-of-a-kind prototype, Division Point is limiting production to just two (2) versions of this particular car. GN X-310 in Red paint with Silver Roof (shown in my image 7th from the top) and a BN version in full the BN Cascade Green with Yellow Ends paint (shown in my image 9th from the top). We have no models for sale at the moment. Contact your favorite dealer to see if you can locate one that isn't spoken for yet. We are a dealer for Division Point, and as we understand it, Division Point is likely sold out unless someone didn't send in their reservation deposit. Our deposits were paid to Division Point two weeks ago. We may have extras for sale. Maybe. We'll see.
In any event, if you've been wondering about the X-310, feel free to peruse these images to see what it was all about. Once we receive our models from Division Point (of the X-310, X1-X30 Series, and the Hutch Caboose too) we'll post some more images out here to show you how they turned out. That's all for now.
Thanks for looking today. Cheers!
