Referrals Over Business (ROB) groups are unique and exciting groups of Chamber members that meet once a week to enjoy a cup of coffee or lunch, share business updates and exchange referrals. During these meetings, other members will become familiar with your business and learn how they can refer you to their own circle of contacts.
Imagine having a focus group working for you to find referrals for your business. That's like having a staff of 10 to 25 members that are not on your payroll but are out on the streets getting you more exposure and connecting you to important businesses and customers!
Each Chamber business category (for example, “realty”) is allowed one representative per ROB Group, so some representative positions may already be filled in current groups, but if there is interest from enough members, there is always the possibility of creating new groups. ROB meeting attendance is mandatory, and if the primary representative from your business cannot attend, the groups ask that a secondary representative attends in his or her place. Cost is $100 annual.

MIDLAND, Mich. – MidMichigan Health, a non-profit health system with more than 8,800 employees, volunteers, health care providers and other personnel, is now MyMichigan Health. Effective Dec. 1, 2021, the name change is part of a system-wide brand transformation updating the health system and facility names, and logo.
“MyMichigan Health remains familiar but is more reflective of who we are, where we are going and how we serve our patients,” said Diane Postler-Slattery, Ph.D., president and CEO, MyMichigan Health. “It’s so much more than a name change. MyMichigan keeps our patients at the center of all that we do. It instills and reinforces a sense of pride and ownership amongst our employees, volunteers and providers. And, it truly emphasizes our people, their stories and the personal human touch and exceptional patient experience we strive to deliver.”
Postler-Slattery continued, “What’s more, MyMichigan better matches our existing size and growth. We are getting bigger and better every day and are expanding our reach beyond the middle of Michigan to the middle of our patients’ hearts. We’ve truly evolved into a large health system now serving both the lower and upper peninsulas through our new affiliations with both War Memorial Hospital and Mackinac Straits Health System.”
As part of the transformation, all MyMichigan facilities received new names including urgent cares, physician offices and Medical Centers, to name a few. For example, MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland is now MyMichigan Medical Center Midland. Signage will begin to be updated with the new logo and facility names over the next few months.
“With a health system our size, the transition to our new name will take some time,” said Postler-Slattery. “We appreciate the understanding and support from our community members that they may continue to see our old name for a few months on letterhead or facility doors, for example.”
Postler-Slattery continued, “But, while our name is changing, our purpose to ‘Create Healthy Communities – Together’ is not. It’s important our patients know the providers and staff who care for them remains the same. Our partnership with University of Michigan Health also remains unchanged. We have worked collaboratively with our partners at the University and they are in support of the change. We will continue to include the block “M” in our logo and maintain the same rich blue and maize coloring, which visually connects all locations that are part of the MyMichigan family.”
MyMichigan Health, headquartered in Midland, Michigan, traces its history back to 1984 with an affiliation between what was then Midland Hospital Center and Clare Osteopathic Hospital. Since then, MyMichigan has grown into an award-winning, high-quality health system providing a wide range of health care services to communities throughout Michigan. With Medical Centers in Alpena, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Midland, Mt. Pleasant, West Branch and soon Sault St. Marie, MyMichigan Health provides a full continuum of care across a wide array of settings, including urgent care centers, home health, virtual care, as well as medical offices in more than 30 specialties and subspecialties including cardiology, hematology/oncology, orthopedics, vascular surgery, family medicine and more.

Michigan's Minimum Wage Set to Increase on Jan. 1, 2022
The Michigan Wage & Hour Division announced that while the law does prohibit scheduled increases when the state's annual average unemployment rate for the preceding calendar year is above 8.5%, it is highly unlikely Michigan will exceed this threshold causing another delay as occurred in 2021.
The state's 2021 annual unemployment rate, which is determined by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), U.S. Dept. of Labor, is calculated by using both average labor force and unemployment levels for January through December. The annual average unemployment rate for 2021 is expected to remain well below 8.5%.
Effective on Jan. 1, 2022:
• Michigan's minimum wage will increase to $9.87 an hour.
• The 85% rate for minors aged 16 and 17 increases to $8.39 an hour.
• Tipped employees rates of pay increases to $3.75 an hour.
• The training wage of $4.25 an hour for newly hired employees ages 16 to 19 for their first 90 days of employment remains unchanged.
