Worship with Us
Christ Church is open for indoor worship at 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Sundays. Masks and social distancing are encouraged. If you do not feel comfortable joining us, the live stream of the 10:00 a.m. service will continue to be posted on our You Tube channel! You can watch it in real time or at your convenience. Find it here.

We are monitoring the presence of the Covid virus in our community on www.covidactnow.org. If there another surge to dangerous levels in our area, we will re-evaluate our protocols for gathering and you will be notified by email. A notice will also be posted on our website, www.christchurchnewton.org. We encourage you to follow best practices for your own health and safety and consider the welfare of others in our community.

Church Breakfast
The Church Breakfast is planned for Sunday, January 9th, 8:45 - 9:30 a.m.

Please note that plans may be changed pending the status of the Coronavirus in our community.
Christian Education
Sunday School
Children ages preschool through sixth grade are invited to gather on the Christ Church Newton playground on Sundays at 9:45 a.m. for education and fun! Contact Suzi Mittelstadt at 973-600-7725 or email [email protected].


Journey Youth Group
The Journey Youth Group for students in grades 7 - 12 is meeting on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. in the Undercroft. The group will be assisting with Sunday Brunch in a Bag on Sunday, January 2nd; students are invited to help 9:00 - 9:50 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Contact Randy Parks, [email protected] with questions.

Adult Christian Education
A discussion led by the Reverend Canon Robert Griner will continue to take place in Holley Hall on Sundays at 9:00 a.m.

Masks and social distancing are encouraged for all those participating in Christian Education in accordance with New Jersey Department of Health guidelines.
Bible Study
Bible Study will be offered in the church parlor on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m.

Sunday Servers & Sunday Brunch in a Bag Volunteers
Those who have volunteered to provide flowers, support the worship of the Sanctuary, serve as Lectors, Ushers, Acolytes, Crucifers or on the Altar Guild, or assist with Coffee Hour or the Sunday Brunch in a Bag program can check their schedule on the Christ Church website.
Manna House Volunteers
Christ Church provides volunteers to Manna House at the First Presbyterian Church of Newton on the 4th Wednesday of each month. The next volunteer opportunity is on January 26th. Those interested in volunteering are invited to call Laura Booker, 973-383-7635 or email [email protected] . At this time, meals are distributed at the door with limited volunteers due to public health guidelines.
Blanketeers
Christ Church welcomes anyone who enjoys crocheting, knitting, or sewing, at any level, to join the Blanketeers Group. Our mission is to provide support and comfort to those who are unwell or in need, within our parish as well as to local organizations, through the gifts of prayer shawls, blankets, scarves and hats. The group meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 11:30 a.m.; January, February and March gatherings will take place over Zoom at dates to be announced. All are welcome to join!

Altar Flowers
Parishioners are encouraged to contribute toward the purchase of the flowers on the altar in order to commemorate a special occasion or loved one; Sanctuary Lights or Candles, $20; Altar Flowers, $50. Contact Alex Zander at [email protected] or contact the church office to offer flowers or make a monetary donation.

  • Susie Mittelstadt and her army of helpers, Anne, Cate, Debbie, Diana, Maureen and Melissa, for sharing in the joy of staging the Pageant at the Family Service on Christmas Eve;
  • Diana Greene, Joe and Debbie Mello, and the members of the Senior Choir for a fantastic Feast of Nine Lessons & Carols;
  • Ginny Smith for hosting the CCW Christmas Party at her home in December;
  • Geordie Compton and all of our dedicated lunch packers for helping with the Sunday Brunch in a Bag program;
  • All those who generously created more than 185 beautiful, hand-crafted items for the Christ Church Blanketeers program, including baby, baptism, lap, and animal blankets, prayer shawls, and hats and scarves for infants, children and adults. Because of your love and dedication, we have provided God's love and support to 158 people and animals in need. The Directors of the 11 organizations which have received these offerings have expressed their profound gratitude.
