Hello

One of the best ways to gauge the confidence of local business owners about the state of the economy and future economic opportunity is to observe their decisions about facility and workforce reinvestment, expansions, and new openings.  In this issue of Frederick Business eNews, we explore examples of those local trends including major renovations and investments at eight businesses across the City representing a wide diversity of industries. Together these projects represent an enormous investment in Frederick’s economic future.  For example, long-time Downtown Frederick anchor Colonial Jewelers has placed its bet on full economic recovery and growth by completely updating its entire retail center on the Square Corner. In other examples, Minuteman Press has purchased a new building for expansion, Ramar Moving is embarking on a major renovation, and The Beauty Company has relocated and expanded. Regular business visits by the DED team to these and others, reveal strong business confidence in community resilience, recovery, and growth. Check out these stories and more and let us know what your business is doing to prepare for the future.

Hang in there and stay well.

Best,
Richard G. Griffin, AICP, CEcD
Director, Economic Development
