BOOK OF THE MONTH, JANUARY 2022
SYNOPSIS:
Her sixtieth birthday, a self-centered husband, and the death of a friend have Brenda wondering what happened to her once adventurous spirit. Determined to get it back, she hotfoots it to a remote village in India. Family members give chase and Brenda’s ditzy granddaughters arrive in India where rebels promptly kidnap them. With the police of no help and her dander up, Brenda turns into “Wonder Woman” embarking on a scheme to rescue “her girls.” Against all odds, she outwits the rebels using implements hidden in her bra, traipsing through jungle, dodging rebels, bullets, and fleeing angry bears, the wild child in Brenda was there all along.

CLUB NEWS

Also, any member is encouraged to head their own cocoon group.Let us know so we can announce it in the newsletter. In the past we have had Poetry and Stage-play groups, for instance. We could use a group that wants to brainstorm & suggest a calendar of meeting activities or speakers. Please, be creative and keep the club moving forward in small ways all year long. With the use of Zoom, we don't even need in-person. While internet meetings are sometimes uncomfortable with large participation, they are perfect for 2-4 cocoon groups.

DO YOU EMOJI?

Do you include emojis in your online presence? On July 26, 2021, the Copyright Review Board ruled that if an emoji “includes something in addition to common shapes,” the emoji might be transformed into a copyrightable icon. Which means a copyright violation if it’s used without permission or copyright exception. Sigh. What’s next?

Melody's best blog recommendation: I’ve read dozens of “how-to-write” books by everyone out there, Janice Hardy has the teaching gift; a knack for making a writing principle simple and clear, providing tons of examples to illustrate her point(s). It’s my go-to when I am trying to understand a concept or need a refresher.
