UWHC Celebrates Golden
Anniversary with Stories of Impact
In February 2023, United Way of Horry County will mark 50 years of service to the Horry County community. We are incredibly excited to spend this next year highlighting this significant milestone.

From our origins as a small group of concerned citizens dedicated to finding the most efficient and effective way to address problems they saw in our community, UWHC has grown, changed, and adjusted as Horry County has done the same.

As we look forward to the future as the recognized problem solver in our community, we will recognize essential moments in our 50-year history and show our organization's impact throughout the last half-century.

The first story is from Rachel Strader and her son, Jadon Avant. Jadon had a cochlear implant surgically implanted when he was two years old. He then received speech and language services through one of our partners at our office in Conway.
