Youth Protection


Have you taken Your Youth Protection Training in the last 11 Months? If not you are due to take YPT!


All Leader Must take Youth Protection Training before they recharter. So Units, Please make sure to check that all leaders have recorded YPT in My.scouting.The best way to look at the Your or your unit's training is on the My.scouting Training report.


Training can be completed online at My.scouting.org.


Do you need help please send an email to [email protected] or talk to your District Executive. We can help with taking YPT, duplicate accounts, and getting the training reports.


Join us on the Kingsley Trail as we learn new skills and take part in a full day of activities. Cubs Scouts will have to make their way on the Kingsly Trail to reach their destination.

Open to all Scouts BSA and Webelos Cost is $12 per Scout and $5 per adult if registered by February 4. The cost is $15 per scout thereafter. All scouts must be registered online before the Derby. Payments will not be accepted at registration.

It's time to dust off the troop sled because Powderhorn's District Klondike Derby is coming up on February 4th at Verona Beach State Park. Troops will compete in a variety of Scouting and winter challenges. Visit our webpage for more information.

Pinewood Derby Patches

It's that time of year again. Pinewood Derby Season.


Pinewood Derby Patches and other supplies can be ordered at the Scout office. This week would be a good time to place your order before they sell out.

2023 National Jamboree


Are you interested in participating in Scouting’s greatest adventure?!? The 2023 National Jamboree at Summit Bechel Reserve in West Virginia is fast approaching and we are looking to build a Leatherstocking Council contingent. 


The Jamboree will be happening from July 19-28,2023. The cost will be approximately $2200, which includes transportation, food, tents, and national registration fees. To secure the national early bird fee, you MUST register at this site: jamboree.scouting.org by October 31, 2022 after which the National Registration fee will increase from $1285 to $1500, and the council fee will reflect that. Once you have registered on the National site, please see the payment schedule on the Council website. We hope you can move “FORWARD” with us at the Jamboree.

Make Your Own Homemade PVC Snowshoes

Webelos Scouts in the Daniel Boone Council in North Carolina use plastic CPVC pipe to make homemade snowshoes for their winter outings. Here's how they do it. 1 six-ounce can of CPVC clear cement 2 pieces of ¾-inch hot/cold CPVC pipe, each 10 feet long (Although they look alike, CPVC piping will work better than PVC because CPVC tends to be a bit more flexible and less likely to crush.
