Upcoming History and Culture Classes
Ed Ginsberg, who currently leads our in-person course in Let's Talk Current Events, will soon present Empowering Ourselves to Combat Antisemitism in Schools, Colleges, Communities, and Workplaces (11614), a two-week online exploration of antisemitism through case studies, and a discussion about developing constructive responses. Class meets Thursday evening at 7 pm, starting February 9, 2023. Ginsberg has been teaching history for over a half century, most recently at Marist College and SUNY Dutchess. He also served as Director of Human Rights Education for the New York State Education Department in the late 1970s.

Ginsberg's upcoming class makes an excellent modern day companion course to Andrea Grover's Italian Jews Under Fascism (11619), a five-session online class that just got underway on Wednesday. The first class was recorded and will be made available to new students seeking to join now.

Before the winter term ends, Ginny Poleman will debut Three Vanderbilt Women (11625) at 11 am on Thursday, March 16, 2023. Learn more about the considerable contributions of the females of the family dynasty known for its men of wealth, power, and greed. This lecture covers Alva Smith Vanderbilt Belmont, a Gilded Age suffragette, Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, an artist and founder of the Whitney Museum, and Gloria Vanderbilt, the fashion icon and designer.
