Michael York, president-elect of the VSB, seeks active and in-good-standing Virginia lawyers willing to serve on special and standing committees in 2024. 
In keeping with the collegial spirit among members of the legal profession in Virginia and North Carolina, the Virginia State Bar announces the new Kenneth F. Kahn School of Law at High Point University.
Compliance
Invoices for attorneys who did not complete the required CLE hours by the October 31st deadline or who did not report sufficient CLE hours by the December 15th reporting deadline are available for payment in the VSB member portal.

The 60 Day Notice of Impending Suspension will be mailed this month to attorneys who have not yet completed the required hours and/or remitted the appropriate fees for the 2023 MCLE compliance period.
 
Complete approved courses to fulfill any remaining hours and pay fees online in the VSB Portal. The next reporting deadline for 2023 MCLE compliance is February 1, 2024, at 4:45 pm EST. Attorneys failing to report hours and/or pay MCLE delinquency fees will be administratively suspended in March.
 
In 2024, reminders to pay your dues will be emailed and dues statements will not be mailed, so please keep your email current with the VSB as required by Part 6, Sec. IV, Para. 3 of the Rules of the Supreme Court. Sign in to make sure you have also joined the sections and conferences you are interested in!
Volunteers Needed to Regulate the Profession
Boards and Committees: We still have some vacancies for you here: (Council Members at Large, Clients' Protection Fund Board, Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Board, Judicial Candidate Evaluation Committee, ABA House of Delegates). Applications close January 5, 2024.
Attorneys and lay members are needed to serve beginning on July 1, 2024. Applications close February 28, 2024.

Disciplinary hearings are public meetings found on the disciplinary docket and on the VSB calendar.

The annual Criminal Law Seminar will be held on February 2 in Charlottesville and February 9 in Williamsburg.

The VSB Bar Leaders Institute (BLI) will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture in Richmond. Please note that this is a change of venue. Current and prospective bar leaders are encouraged to attend.The Hon. Cleo E. Powell will be the keynote speaker.
The Diversity Conference will host the 4th Annual Forum on Diversity in the Legal Profession on Friday, March 15, at the Jepson Alumni Executive Center at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg.

The Leroy Rountree Hassell Sr. Indigent Criminal Defense Seminar will be in-person only, Friday, May 3, in Richmond, Weyers Cave and Wytheville.

The VSB Annual Meeting will be held in Virginia Beach from May 29–June 1.
