If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.

Welcome back and happy new year!
We would like to kick off 2024 by congratulating the 2023 Social Justice Mediation Program (SJMP) Cohort for completing the Social Justice Mediation Training. We had a dynamic group of leaders, stakeholders, practitioners from different backgrounds. Now, they are equipped to help mediate conflicts “ disagreements, improve communication, appreciate different points of view, and develop understanding. Social justice mediation seeks to mediate while acknowledging any underlying social identities, power, privilege, and vary backgrounds impact a situation.”
Learn more about the SJMP and stay connected for the next training.
If you are an SJMP alum, consider attending our next refresher meeting on Thursday, January 25th at 6:00 p.m. ET - Register here.

Greater Boston Birth Equity Coalition
Overview/Background
|
|
Vital Village Networks (VVN) has collaborated with community leaders, healthcare providers, and advocates to establish the Greater Boston Birth Equity Coalition. The coalition aims to assist families who are farthest from opportunity during the arrival of new children. Various community partners from the region have come together to create a governance and decision-making structure that is solutions-oriented, respects the dignity of its members, and is based on healing-centered practices.
The design team is now accepting nominations for 11 members to serve as leaders for the official founding of the Greater Boston Birth Equity Coalition. Additionally, it is looking for advisors to join the Elder Council, who will provide guidance to the coalition. Furthermore, it is inviting the community to join by expressing interest in the general membership of the Greater Boston Birth Equity Coalition.
We are inviting people from all walks of life to join in co-leading this coalition. We value and welcome all forms of leadership centered on upholding and protecting the dignity of children and birthing people.

All of Us, part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), is inviting one million people across the U.S. to help build one of the largest and most diverse health data resources in history. Researchers will use data from the program to learn more about how individual differences in lifestyle, environment, and biological makeup can influence health and disease.
One of the goals of All of Us is to return information to participants over time. For example, participants can learn about their DNA by providing blood or saliva samples. This information may include genetic ancestry (where your family might have lived hundreds of years ago); genetic traits, such as why you might love or hate cilantro; whether you may have a higher risk for certain health conditions, or how your body might react to certain medications. All participants will receive a $25 gift card after they complete the initial steps to join.
