2024 Winter board meeting registration

Lumina at Wrightsville Beach

A Holiday Inn Resort

January 26 & 27, 2024

The Winter Board meeting is almost here, and we're kicking off the 2024 election season with an exciting meeting with great speakers and a special workshop. All NCFRW members in our 52 clubs across the state and their registered guests are welcome to join us to hear the latest news, prepare for the 2024 election, meet old friends and connect with great women like yourselves.

We begin with a reception on Friday evening, the annual Dottie Martin Scholarship luncheon on Saturday and a special dinner Saturday evening honoring RISE award winners and clubs celebrating special anniversaries in 2024: Lower Cape Fear RW 50 years, Crystal Coast RW 40 years, Johnston Co RW 40 years, Henderson Co. RW 30 years, Alamance RW 20 years and North West RW 10 years!

Plus we will have an excellent workshop to jumpstart Election Victory 2024!

Registration and Meeting Information

After Eventbrite refused to work with Riley Gaines on a pro-woman event, we vowed to find another ticket provider. Thanks to Erica Vedeikis, Foothills VP and Technology Chair, we switched to TICKETLEAP. You'll find its online ticketing is easy, or you have the option of sending a check by the registration deadline.

President's Message by Kay Wildt

We need you. America will not be saved by cowards!

U.S. Customs and Border Protection reports that since October 2023, in not even four months, a group the size of Charlotte's population walked across our border. Some are coming to enjoy America's freedoms, yet others are not.

Significant numbers are men of military age from adversarial nations, like China, that want to destabilize our country. Others are from violent and predatory cultures incompatible with our American values. The Democrat administration and those who want cheap labor are endangering us all with intentionally bad immigration policies. Those policies have created a powder keg in towns and cities across the nation, and only the election of a strong Republican administration offers any hope of ending those dangerous policies.

We need you. There are many ways to work in an election year, and NCFRW will help you find a way so that you can do your part and make a difference.

2023 in Review

Our Winter meeting featured Gordon Chang on the very day that the Chinese spy balloon was shot down over NC's coast. At our Spring meeting, we heard from AP Dillon about NC's schools, along with a lawyer from First Liberty who defended Coach Joe Kennedy at the Supreme Court, and Tana Goertz, Life Coach and Leadership Institute training.

We had an exciting Legislative Day visiting our legislators, Superintendent Truitt and NC Supreme Court's Justices Barringer and Allen. At our Fall meeting, Clare Lopez spoke about the Middle East history and current conflict. We joined with the South Carolina Federation to hold a Presidential Forum at Winthrop University.

At the National Federation Convention in Oklahoma City, our 51 clubs earned 31 Diamond awards, three Gold, two Silver and four Bronze, and Gaston RW won a Caring for America award. We led the cause for women only in sports and in our Federation, and we are proud of our own Martha Jenkins NFRW 1st VP.

Thank you to all who commented on Federal Register rules and pushed back against government overreach.

Reflection by Margeaux Holland

Dear God, our Father, we thank you for this new year. We come to you with humility in the hope of restoration. With our hands open, we praise you with willingness so that we might receive all that you have for us to do this year.

We ask that you would fill our minds with wisdom and understanding as we enter into the mighty things that need to be taken care of in this very important year. We ask for hearts filled with love and compassion that we might do greater things in your name for the betterment of all people. Amen

NCFRW Hall of Fame Honorees

The 2023 NCGOP Hall of Fame Dinner honored dedicated volunteers across the state for their work and dedication to the party. A number of our outstanding members were recognized.

Congratulations to 6th District's Nancy Bishop of the Greater Greensboro RWC, 8th District's Audrey Blackwood of Sweet Union RW and 9th District's Jackie Weyhenmeyer of Sandhills RW in Action and VP of the Capital Region.

Condolences

I have kept the faith. I have fought a good fight.

Ann Jones Gosey

We join the Midday Republican Women of Cleveland County in mourning the death of Ann Gosey, their Honorary Life Member. Honored in recognition of her many years of service to her club and to the Republican party and known for being sweet yet spunky when it came to politics, Ann graced us for 96 well-lived years.

Cale Tacoby Lowery

Our deepest condolences go to Alina Lowery on the untimely death of her husband, Cale Lowery. Cale was an Associate member of the Republican Women of the Lumber River and their hardest-working volunteer. Formerly the Regional Engagement Coordinator for the RNC Native American Community Center in Pembroke, Cale loved politics and was known for his excellent work in Robeson County.

Caring for America

Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (L.E.A.D.)

Thankful for our Blue

January 9th is Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (L.E.A.D.). Some clubs annually deliver letters of appreciation and treats, to all law enforcement offices in their county. Snacks, fruit, candy, bottles of water, even K-9 treats for furry officers, are appreciated.

The tragic death of Greensboro Sergeant Philip Dale Nix reminds us that law enforcement personnel risk their lives every day for us. They deserve our thanks.
