ACCOUNTING            If our office is processing your W-2s or 1099s for 2023, we will need your information by January 15th to be filed by January 31st. Processing for business and personal taxes starts January 15, 2024.

REGISTRATION Tags whose registrant name begins with A or B expire on January 31st. Tags whose name begins with C or D should send us your paperwork by Jan 15th to avoid late filing penalties. Our tag work processing fee begins at $90.

2290 Renewal Grace Period Has Ended Renewal for your 2290 was due August 31st. If you have not renewed your Heavy Highway Use Tax (Form 2290), you are now responsible for late penalties from the IRS. Our processing fee for 2290s is $80 for the first truck and $60 for each additional truck. If you have not filed your 2290, you are accruing interest and penalties at around $30 per month

IMPORTANT! 2290 E-FILING IS SHUT DOWN FOR MAINTENANCE The IRS system for e-filing your 2290s is shut down for scheduled maintenance. This means you cannot get your 2290 by e-filing during this time period. You MUST have a current 2290 to renew your IRP or register a unit that you have owned over 60 days. The IRS is due to open e-filing by January 16th. We will update you as soon as we are notified.

FUEL TAXES

4th quarter (which covers October 1st – December 31st) information is due to our office by January 15th. Fuel taxes filed after January 31st will be considered late and the state will charge a $50 late penalty or 10% of what is owed - whichever amount is greater. Keep in mind that an additional 1% of your total owed is applied to every month your fuel taxes are late! You may send your information via fax, email, or mail. When sending your fuel tax information through fax or email, please call us to be sure we did receive it. If you have an IFTA account and did not run in the 4th quarter, we will still need a statement from you to file a zero return to the states on your behalf. Our fuel tax processing fee is $80 for the first truck/driver and $50 for each additional truck/driver per quarter. If the documents submitted are not organized, there will be an additional $25 charge per truck/driver. The processing fee for a zero return is $50. GEORGIA FUEL TAX SUSPENSION     Georgia's fuel tax suspension ran from September 13th - November 29th. Fuel purchased during this period will not be charged the .35 tax rate paid at the pump. If you normally turn in an overall summary of your miles and gallons, they will need to be broken down in order to file your taxes correctly. If you have not filed your 3Q23, please break down your miles and gallons as follows! October 1 - November 29, 2023 November 30 - December 31, 2023

INTRASTATE AUTHORITY RENEWALS Georgia intrastate authorities (GIMC) expired December 31st. The cost to renew is $130 for the 1st truck and $50 for each additional truck.

DOT COMPLIANCE  The Department of Transportation requires that all drivers operating vehicles of 26,000 pounds or more be enrolled in a drug and alcohol consortium. Our office covers the drug testing costs for you; so you don’t need to worry about any additional fees.

TEMPORARY PERMITS  Our permit specialists here at TFIG can help in getting your trip, fuel, oversized and overweight permits. We will review details of your load to ensure that you meet each state’s requirements for safe and compliant travelling.

Any special permits ordered after 4:00PM will not be processed until the next business day.

DRUG AND ALCOHOL CLEARING HOUSE ALL FMCSA CLEARINGHOUSE ACCOUNTS ARE REQUIRED TO BE COMPLETELY SET UP FOR OWNER/OPERATERS AND DRIVERS BY JANUARY 1, 2024. If not this process was not completed by January 1, 2024, your company is no longer in compliance with FMCSA. Officers are going to begin verifying clearinghouse information as of January 1, 2024.
