Recently, a child was searching through a clothing bin in StyleXchange and chatting with our high school volunteers working the register. They all listened intently while she told them about spirit week at school, learning to ice skate, her trip to the petting zoo, how she likes cats more than lizards but understands why they look like that - all the important stuff. Everyone was grinning from ear to ear. We offered her a sticker, and she was thrilled.
"This is such a small slice out of the day, but these moments matter more than anything. She came into StyleXchange with her mom brimming with excitement, because she knows StyleXchange as a fun, safe place to shop. It’s a place where the volunteers are friendly, engaged, and helpful and there’s a seemingly endless supply of tutus.
What more could a 7-and-an-almost-half-year-old ask for? There is so much room for connection and delight at Valley Outreach, and I see it everywhere." - Marge, StyleXchange Manager
