Chanting at the Annual 4th Avenue Winter Street Fair
Of all the public singing our temple does throughout the year, the 4th Avenue Street Fairs give us our widest audience.
Artists, vendors, and buskers of all kinds perk up as we weave our way through the blocks of booths, dancing and chanting Hare Krishna to the delight of the people in attendance.
At 4th and Congress, we set up a book table, which saw a lot of action. When the Fair returns to 4th Ave in the spring, we'll repeat that winning combo--an all-attractive chanting party plus the irresistible force of Prabhupada's books

Devotees gather to take Child Protection seminar
On Saturday, December 9th, many devotees gathered before screens to participate in a child-protection seminar on Zoom.
Hosted by ISKCON North America's Child Protection Office in Alachua, Florida, the morning and afternoon sessions focused on the many forms of child abuse and how to protect our children from it.
Devotees who wanted to be certified as child protectors sat for an exam at the end. Owing to our community's strong commitment to child protection, the NA Office has re-certified ISKCON Tucson as safe for children.

Temple residents & congregation celebrate season with gifts & talent show
On the evening of Monday, December 18th, our spiritual community celebrated the holiday season by giving gifts and staging a talent show.
Readings, songs, dances, drama, and even some yo-yo tricks graced the temple room before the Deities and a packed house of devotees.
Whoever brought a gift was eligible to receive one when Mother Sandamini called their number.
After the show, everyone enjoyed a holiday dinner of scrumptious krsna-prasadam.

Architecture Design Submitted for Pre-approval
The design is "Rajasthan meets the Southwest," by
the renowned architect
John Maddocks.
| |
The design was submitted to the City of Tucson for approval and now we must change the zoning on our residential property from R1 to R2 to accommodate the new apartments for our devotees and guest houses. This takes 3-5 months.
Meanwhile we will continue with designing the outside gardens & eating area.

Thinking of New Years Resolutions for 2024?
Why not make a resolution to become a monthly donor at the temple.
"The question is not how much of our money we should give to God, but how much of God's money we should keep for ourselves.”
(John Wesley, Founder of Methodism)
Your tithing dollars help maintain your temple and pay regular monthly expenses:
electric, gas, water, vegetables, grains, flowers, yard maintenance & insurance.
.
When you come to the temple any day of the week and see the beautiful darshan, the refreshing gardens, free breakfast and feast prasadam, remember that this is possible because of our regular monthly donors.
It is your privilege and responsibility to support Krishna's temple. Become a tither today. Choose an amount you feel comfortable giving each month.

"Water...in the winter season, it becomes pinching...But it is due to this body: under certain circumstances it feels pleasure. and under certain circumstances it feel distress...Now, if we want to transcend above this material plane, then...We have to stand on the spiritual consciousness of life."
(Bhagavad-gita lecture, April 8, 1966, New York)
| |
From Srila Prabhupada's Srimad-Bhagavatam translation...
"O great actor, my Lord, all these poor creatures are constantly perplexed by hunger, thirst, severe cold, secretion, and bile, attacked by coughing winter, blasting summer, rains, and many other disturbing elements, and overwhelmed by strong, indefatigable sex urges and indomitable anger. I take pity on them, and I am very much aggrieved for them." (Lord Brahma to Lord Krsna,
(Srimad-Bhagavatam 3.9.8 verse translation)
