Our partnership with CareerSource Brevard Flagler Volusia was highlighted in an op-ed published by Florida Daily, which was then shared on MSN. The article highlights how we’re tackling Florida’s nursing shortage with holistic CNA training, job placement, and wraparound support.

KWTX Highlights DWD in Waco

KWTX, the CBS and Telemundo affiliate serving central Texas, invited our COO, Maria Darby, and representatives from our partners, McLennan Community College and Southern Careers Institute – Waco, to share how DWD’s partnerships are helping bring beneficial, free Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training to the Waco community.

We’re thrilled to continue growing our Dwyer Scholar community throughout the country and help people accomplish their dreams!

Another Waco Partnership Highlight!

The Waco Tribune-Herald recently highlighted our partnership with Southern Careers Institute and McLennan Community College. Our partnerships began last October and we’ve been able to provide many Dwyer Scholars not only with tuition support, but also other wraparound financial support for childcare and other barriers that inhibit their educational success.

“Dwyer [DWD] can be a significant game changer for a handful of students,” said Allison Halbert, MCC’s coordinator of community health. “It [nursing aide certification] is really the steppingstone to launching their education.”

1st Annual ACL Live Community Day

in Austin

Join us and many Texas-based Dwyer Scholars at the first annual ACL Live Community Day, on Saturday, Feb. 8, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The day will be filled with a free behind-the-scenes tour of the venue, live music, local bites and drinks, fun for all ages, chances to win tickets to upcoming shows, and more!

New Year, New Team Members

DWD’s growth is not slowing down! From our new Baltimore headquarters to many new team members, we have experienced significant growth. Recently, we welcomed Aquisha Bates, Community Engagement Coordinator, Pennsylvania; Alli Rutledge, Community Engagement Coordinator, Texas; and Deja Frazier, Front Desk Coordinator, Baltimore.

Over the last few months, many Dwyer Scholars have graduated from CNA or GNA classes and received their certifications. We all know this is no easy feat! Partner Visits in Texas

Lisa Chamness, Director of Partnerships and Programs, and Alli Rutledge, Texas Community Engagement Coordinator, visited many of DWD provider partners throughout Texas. A few memorable visits included a pop-in at Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation at Duval for a visit and tour as well as a stop by Creekside Rehabilitation. We love visiting and catching up with our partners!

Holiday Fun at DWD HQ

From festive outfits and tree-trimming to daily Christmas Elf appearances, a white elephant gift exchange and a holiday luncheon, our Baltimore team was festive and fun! Celebrating the holidays as a team was such a treat! We hope you and your loved ones had a happy and safe holiday season.
