January 2025: What's New

Tackling The Winter Blues

January in the Pacific Northwest. The holiday decorations are down and it’s back to the usual routine. With all the sparkly anticipation of the early winter season behind us, the rest feels gray and gloomy. The Encompass team put our heads together to offer a few activity ideas for making the best of the next few months. Because let’s be honest. It’s not just January. For many, the winter blues can last right through February and sometimes even into March.

Click on the button below for a few tips on navigating the gray. While it's certainly not a definitive list, we hope you'll find inspiration for some fun memory-making experiences.

Family Movie Night at Carnation Preschool

Our Carnation Preschool recently hosted a Family Movie Night to take in a showing of The Gruffalo’s Child. The popular book by Julia Donaldson is a student favorite so they loved the opportunity to snack on treats and hot chocolate while enjoying the movie adaptation with their families.

Introducing Flourish Fridays!

The Encompass Early Learning team is excited to offer a new enrichment program for preschool-aged students.

Flourish Fridays provide additional opportunities for children to play, learn, and grow. Our monthly themes will be based on the concepts of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) and will be available on Friday mornings from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm through the rest of the school year.

Watch for more information and enrollment details to come soon!

A Fun Gift for North Bend Preschool

It was just a casual conversation while we hosted an activity station at Oaktoberfest. Encompass Early Learning Center Program Supervisor Diana Summers looked at the gorgeous ‘Acornhole’ boards created by Oaktoberfest founder Terry Pottmeyer and her husband Geoff and mentioned looking into something similar for our preschool students. A month later, Terry delivered these beautiful, whimsical cornhole boards to our Early Learning Center. So much fun!

Thank you, Terry and Geoff, for sharing your incredible time and talent with our students!
