Dear Pastoral Assistants of Faith Formation and Catechists,

Today, I want to share with you the message of the Episcopal Conference for the Jubilee Year:

"As the Universal Church looks toward the Jubilee Year 2025 (the 2,025th anniversary of the Incarnation of our Lord), the USCCB is thrilled to support the Holy Father in this "event of great spiritual, ecclesial, and social significance in the life of the Church."

Pope Francis stated in his February 2022 letter announcing the Jubilee 2025: "We must fan the flame of hope that has been given us and help everyone to gain new strength and certainty by looking to the future with an open spirit, a trusting heart and far-sighted vision. The forthcoming Jubilee can contribute greatly to restoring a climate of hope and trust as a prelude to the renewal and rebirth that we so urgently desire..."

On December 24, the Jubilee began with the opening of the Holy Door in St. Peter's Cathedral by Pope Francis. All Catechists and Faith Formation Coordinators are invited to join the whole world and form "Pilgrims of Hope.

THE JUBILEE PRAYER

Father in heaven,

may the faith you have given us

in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother,

and the flame of charity enkindled

in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,

reawaken in us the blessed hope

for the coming of your Kingdom.

May your grace transform us into

tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.

May those seeds transform from within

both humanity and the whole cosmos

in the sure expectation

of a new heaven and a new earth,

when, with the powers of evil vanquished,

your glory will shine eternally.

May the grace of the Jubilee

reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,

a yearning for the treasures of heaven.

May that same grace spread

the joy and peace of our Redeemer

throughout the earth.

To you our God, eternally blessed,

be glory and praise for ever.

Amen.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Formation Course

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is a Montessori-based faith formation experience in which children and adults listen to God together in a retreat-like setting called the Atrium. The Sheepfold, a local consortium of communities offering CGS to families, is offering an 11-month faith formation course for adults to learn how to offer CGS to children ages 3-6. This will equip an adult to serve as a catechist in a Level I Atrium. This adult formation is offered in person on 13 weekend days during the 2025 calendar year at different sites in Western Washington.

January 22nd - Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children

The Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children holds great significance as it aligns with the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, a landmark Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion in the United States. However, the Catholic Church remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding the sanctity of life from conception to natural death.

The Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children serves as a reminder of the Church’s unwavering stance on the inherent dignity and value of every human life. It is a time for Catholics and believers alike to come together in prayer, seeking God’s guidance and intervention in protecting the unborn. (Young Catholics)
