Uranus Direct. Retrograde Mars continues

Welcome to both subscribers and those reading my newsletter for the first time. If you missed the January 2025 News & Views. One of the major events this coming week is Uranus finally stationing direct after being retrograde since September 1, 2024. Scroll below for information about Uranus stationing direct on January 30, 2025.

I have been talking about Mars retrograde since it entered its retrograde arc on October 5, 2024. While it may seem like overload, I have pointed out all the events that happened since Mars actually went retrograde on December 6th, and with each newsletter it seems like I keep adding more. This of course seems to culminate with the wildfires and Santa Ana winds across Los Angeles and environs. Even though there have been awful fires in the past, this one has been worse than any recent fires. Areas like Altadena, Malibu and Palisades suffered so much loss of homes.

Astrologically speaking these are the types of events that are compounded by Mars. We have now gone past the Sun-Mars opposition of January 16, but will still have Mars retrograde through February 27th and then the 3rd Mars-Pluto opposition on April 27, 2025, and its leaving the retrograde arc on May 2, 2025. Since the Sun-Mars opposition is midway through the retrograde cycle and closest to the earth, those few days surrounding it should have brought about an intense event, and actually it did, though it may be positive rather than a continuation of violence. At least we hope so. That event was the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas with the agreement that Palestinian soldiers would be released from Israel, and Israeli hostages would be released from Gaza though just a few at a time, and only women, children, and injured. We can all hope that this will continue.

Mars retrograde, and when it enters and leaves the retrograde arc, is always a long spell, and in an already tense world, it becomes more tense and intense before it becomes better. The same of course can be said about our personal lives. You can read about all this in the last newsletter, conta.cc/3W1EJc8 but the message is to continue to not be reactive, do not let the small things bother you, pick your battles, and continue to meditate, stay quiet, and take deep breaths without reacting.

In addition to Uranus stationing direct, some of the intensity of these events are also shown by the Nodes changing signs tropically on January 11, 2025 from Aries/Libra to Pisces/Virgo but because I gear this newsletter to both tropical astrology and Indian astrology where the Nodes change signs from Pisces/Virgo to Aquarius/Leo on May 30, 2025, I want to address these changes together, but I do want to note how important they are for the next year and a half. More about this will appear in the March newsletter when we talk about the eclipses.

At the moment Jupiter is ready to go direct on February 4th, but for all intents and purposes it has already stationed at Tropical 11 Gemini 16 and Sidereal 17 Taurus 10, where it will be situated throughout February. More about this in next week's February 2025 News and Views, but for now, pay attention to any planet, point, or angle in your chart

In the meantime now that Venus is an evening star moving closer and closer towards its retrograde position, which occurs March 2-April 13, 2025, and then conjunction with the Sun on March 22, 2025, do look at the evening sky, since Venus is a beautiful object to behold, especially with the Moon moving from dark new moon towards its crescent phase, so that it does not obliterate the view of Venus. If you go to earthandsky.org it will tell you a lot about Venus and what else to see in the night sky. Venus' greatest elongation East in the western sky, when it was farthest away from the Sun at 47-48 degrees east of the Sun, occurred on January 9-10, 2025. It will be at its brightest around February 14th and then it will begin to retrograde and be blinded by the conjunction with the Sun on March 22. Don't miss the beauty of the bright evening star Venus because this position, like the retrograde, only occurs every 18 months. (I presented some of this material in my 2025 Sensitive Degrees Webinar which I mention below.)

This month's lunations occur with the January 13, 2025 Full Moon. 22:26. Tropical. 23° Cancer 59'. Sidereal. 29° Gemini 53’. punarvasū, and the January 29, 2025 New Moon. 12:35. Tropical. 9° Aquarius 51'. Sidereal. 15° Capricorn 44’ śravaṇā.

If you have any planets, points, or angles around those degrees (I would take a one-two degree orb) then whatever is represented by that planet, point or angle, will be prominent and important until the next lunation, meaning that if something in your chart is conjunct this month's Full Moon on January 13, 2025, it will usually be prominent until the next Full Moon on February 12, 2025. And if something in your chart is conjunct this month's New Moon on January 29, 2025, it will usually be prominent until the next New Moon on February 28, 2025. The New Moon represents beginnings and can help you to institute a change you have been thinking about while the Full Moon is an accomplishment or culmination and gives the push to continue on that path. If you have planets, points, or angles conjunct this month's lunations, you will feel a need to take action with either something new (New Moon) or the manifestation of something you have been working on (Full Moon). Of course, the houses that these lunations fall in, will highlight those areas of life as well.

If your birthday is between January 12-14, then the Full Moon is in your solar return (varṣaphala), the annual birthday chart, or close enough that it will be important for the year ahead until your next birthday, meaning that it may be year when things you have been working on will manifest, or feel like they are moving in the right direction, so continue with whatever is fulfilling you. Set your intentions high and gather your confidence since this is the year when things will take place. The Full Moon on your birthday is important but when you have an eclipse there, even if it is a partial lunar eclipse, the year ahead will be even more significant than usual. make sure that you are prepared to make those changes that come with manifesting your hopes, otherwise they can pass you by.

If your birthday is between January 28-30, then the New Moon is in your solar return (varṣaphala), the annual birthday chart, or close enough that it will be important for the year ahead until your next birthday, meaning a change is bound to happen, so work on that change. It could be a physical move, job change, relationship change, or simply working on yourself to integrate new patterns and habits into your life. Expect a great deal of transformative experiences that will make you want to change or take a step in a different direction. Take your time but do head in that direction, since otherwise it will happen to you whether you initiate it or not.

The January lunations also occurred on the same dates and degrees in 1987 and 2006 so think about anything important that might have occurred in that birthday year. Although other planets will be different from those years, it still may indicate the area of change or importance in those years. (Scroll down for more Celestial Events.)

Uranus Stations Direct

September 1, 2024. Uranus Stations Retrograde.

Tropical. 27° Taurus 15'. Sidereal. 3° Taurus 09'. kṛttikā

January 30, 2025. Uranus Stations Direct.

Tropical. 23° Taurus 15’. Sidereal. 29° Aries 09’. kṛttikā

As I have said before, do not be fooled when a planet goes direct, since it will first take a few days for that energy to start to move forward quickly. Uranus, on the other hand, takes an even longer time to move forward and since its retrograde period is longer and slower than a faster moving planet, retrograding for 5 months, Uranus, as we see above, only traveled four degrees in those five months. So although Uranus moves technically direct on January 30, 2025, it has been around Tropical. 23° Taurus 15’. Sidereal. 29° Aries 09’ for the last month, so if you have a planet, point, or angle close to that degree, think about what may have happened around May 17, 2024 (give or take one week on either side), since Uranus has been at that degree before. Scroll down to see how it affects your chart. You may even think back to what may have begun around August 29, 2023, when Uranus stationed retrograde at Tropical. 23° Taurus 04'. Sidereal. 28° Aries 59’ kṛttikā.

Because retrograde and direct stations are points of power and intensity, often powerful events occur around the station in the world and in your personal life. Of course they are unpredictable due to the definition of Uranus, and they can be intensely wonderful, or intensely confusing, challenging, and devastating. things happen that are unexpected, powerful, and intense.

Remember that keywords for Uranus also include inspiration, excitement, sudden occurrences, instability, independence, rebellions, and many more. Sometimes things happen that we were not expecting, and we are forced to make a move in an area of our lives. Sometimes it may be a change we have wanted to make for a while, but nothing happens until Uranus comes along and forces us to make that move.

That means that this month is very crazy through the month of February which corresponds with Jupiter stationing direct on February 4, and Mars stationing direct on February 24. Things that could happen around the station are already occurring around the world. This could range from California wild fires to movement in hostage release in the Middle East to Donald Trump’s inauguration and sudden changes he is implementing. Of course Mars retrograde, and its opposition with the Sun, combined with Uranus stationing direct, will make this time a wild ride. Keep looking around and do not be surprised as to what comes next. January and February are months of wild events. It really has been a long transit, so goodbye to Uranus around the degree of where it stations direct.

Read below for the zodiac you use.

Read if you use Indian sidereal astrology. If you have a planet, point, or angle in your chart that conjoins 29° Aries 09’, where Uranus stations direct (I use a one degree orb), it will be within a one degree orb through March 23rd, when it also has just moved into Taurus a few days before. Think about the last time that Uranus crossed this point, which occurred on May 17, 2024, and there may be something that has been changing and evolving, but it will now happen quickly with Uranus stationing and then moving away from that point through March 23rd. Whatever the planet, point, or angle represents, that Uranus conjoins, is where change should occur, and sometimes suddenly and without warning, so be prepared for the unexpected. General descriptions of the grahas (planets) are as follows:

Sun. power, vigor; Moon. maternal, mind; Mars. strength, courage; Mercury. speech, learning; Jupiter. knowledge, wealth; Venus. love, happiness; Saturn. sorrow, fear; Rāhu (North Node). intensity, compulsion; Ketu (South Node). extremes, spirituality; Lagna (Ascendant). destiny, vitality. If you use Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and the angles you can look below at tropical Western astrology for their keywords..

uary 14-18, 2025 when that aspect is in orb. Again, if you take deep breaths, and do not overreact, or react at all to someone else's anger, then you will already be one step ahead of the game. Always under these transits, put your energy into physical activity, or any project you are currently involved in. Focus on anything other than giving in to stress. Everyone has their own way of dealing with tension, and whatever you discover works for yourself, is something you should always remember to do.
