Cafe News . . .

PALNV was able to save 37 cats from the streets during the month of December! We had over 380 appointments in the cafe and 47 cats found their forever homes! There are currently 10 cats and 3 kittens in the cafe and 30 cats/kittens in foster homes.

Yes, you read that correctly - there are currently only 13 cats in the cafe!! We are so happy for all our kitties that found their forever homes. And while our cats are enjoying the extra space right now, kitten season is just around the corner and we still have more work to do!

Cafe Cat of the Month

Posie

Posie is a shy, but sweet, dilute calico who came to the cafe in June 2024. She is about a year and a half old and ready for her forever home!

PALNV and Rescued Treasures Cat Cafe is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Although we do raise funds through cafe admission and adoptions, we also rely on the generosity of others to help with our mission of saving neighborhood cats. Food, litter, supplies, vet visits and medical bills are all just part of what it takes to help these kitties. If you would like to help support our mission, please visit our website for our wish lists and other ways to donate. Thank you!!

David Turns 10!

David, our cat cafe ambassador, is turning 10 years old on Sunday, January 12! Help us celebrate his birthday by booking a session to visit him at the cafe or by donating cat food for him and his street cat friends! David's Birthday Wish List available on Amazon or you can bring food donations directly to the cafe on January 12. Happy Birthday David!

Dine to Donate

Our next Dine to Donate event will be held on Thursday, January 16 at the Red Robin on Tropical Pkwy from 10:30am until 9pm! Just present your flyer or mention this fundraiser and PALnv receives 20%. Click HERE to print your flyer or pick up one in the cafe.

The next movie night will be Friday, January 24 at 6:30pm for Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Also, there will be a special Puss in Boot backpack raffle - raffle tickets are $2/each. New Year's Resolutions

FOR THE CAT

The New Year is the perfect time to set meaningful goals for you and your cat!

Here are some New Year’s resolutions every cat owner can embrace to create a happier, healthier year for their feline friend.

  • Learn to Read Your Cat’s Body Language - From the way they move their ears to the position of their tail, every little gesture tells a story. Understanding these cues helps you better connect with your cat, anticipate his needs, and avoid potential stress or conflicts.
  • Master the Art of the Slow Blink - In the feline world, direct eye contact can be threatening, but this slow blink is their way of saying “I trust you enough to close my eyes in your presence.” This simple act can help build trust with shy cats and strengthen your bond with confident ones.
  • The Magic of the Cardboard Box - Who knew a simple cardboard box could be the key to your cat’s happiness? Research shows that cats with access to hiding spots—like a humble cardboard box—are less stressed and more likely to approach people in a calm, friendly way.
  • Give Your Cat an Outlet for His Inner Hunter - Even the most pampered house cats have an instinctive need to stalk, chase, and pounce. Providing toys that mimic prey is another great way to satisfy these predatory instincts and keep your cat mentally and physically healthy. Every cat has his own hunting style!

New Year's Resolutions

BY THE CAT

While human New Year’s resolutions often involve exercising more and making healthy eating choices, cats would probably have different goals.

Just for fun, keep reading for some New Year’s resolutions that cats would make!

  • Disable the Cat Cam - There’s no need for my human to know precisely what happens while they’re gone. I’d like to disable the camera, but I could also make the videos more exciting for my human to enjoy.
  • Avoid Using Jedi Mind Tricks to Obtain Tuna - I've decided to hide in the closet as the best way to motivate humans to cough up treats and tuna.
  • Do Regular Ear Control Workouts - I must get better control over my ear movements, so my humans never know that I hear them calling my name. I resolve to twitch my ears in response to my human calling my name a mere 20% of the time and otherwise ignore.
  • Be More Cooperative When It Comes to Sleeping Arrangements - I resolve to allow my human a bit more space in bed or at the very least, to avoid getting annoyed when they move their legs and squirm around. Positioning myself on my human’s head may well solve the entire problem!
  • Be a Bit More Patient - I can’t use a dirty litter box, but I resolve to be more patient and count to 10 before going outside the litter box to remind them to clean it out.
