On behalf of ICRF's leadership and staff, I hope you'll join us in starting the year strong—for our scientists, for Israel, and for all those counting on us to find a cure.
We are pleased to welcome Dr. Arnie Baskies, who assumes the role of Chair effective today. As past Chairman of the American Cancer Society's National Board of Directors and an esteemed surgical oncologist, we are confident that Dr. Baskies' extensive expertise as a leader in cancer advocacy and as an accomplished physician will successfully guide us through this pivotal year and beyond.

ICRF is extremely fortunate that David Abramson, ICRF’s International Board President, will continue to lead our organization now alongside Richard 'Rick' Edelheit as Co-Presidents. Rick has been a valued member of our Executive Committee and Board, most recently serving as Treasurer. Bryna Goldberg, who has served as our unwavering International Board Chair for the past eight years will continue as our Vice Chair.
As we kick off ICRF@50, we're unveiling three cornerstone initiatives that reflect our founders' vision from 1975. These initiatives will continue the legacy of strengthening Israel as a global leader in science while striving for a cancer-free future.
This is just the beginning of what's in store for ICRF@50, and we look forward to sharing more opportunities for all in the weeks and months ahead.

Remembering Helene Miller
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Helene Miller, who left us on January 5, 2025, at the age of 96.
Helene was the beloved wife of one of ICRF’s founders, Dr. Daniel G. Miller, of blessed memory. Alongside Dan, Helene played a pivotal role in supporting the vision that helped shape the success we celebrate today.
Helene was a dear friend to many members of ICRF's staff, who cherished learning about the organization’s early days. She was deeply grateful to see the legacy of her late husband live on through ICRF's numerous accomplishments.

In 2024, Israel Became a Global Leader in Applied AI Innovation (Forbes) Israel’s AI startup activity is two to four times greater than that of the U.S. or Europe, making its AI sector one of the densest in the world. These startups represent 30 percent of Israel’s tech landscape, and the 2024 Stanford AI Index ranked Israel first globally for AI talent concentration.
U.S. Surgeon General Sounds Alarm About Link Between Alcohol and Cancer (CNN) The U.S. Surgeon General issued a rare advisory warning Americans that alcohol consumption increases cancer risk and called for updated health warning labels on alcoholic beverages. These advisories are issued infrequently and often help shape public health habits—similar to the 1964 report on smoking that changed perceptions of cigarettes.
