January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month
As we enter January 2025, ONA is proud to support Human Trafficking Prevention Month, focusing on the theme "Connecting the Dots. Strengthening Communities. Preventing Trafficking." This theme highlights the importance of a holistic approach to combatting human trafficking. We encourage organizations working with refugee and immigrant communities to actively raise awareness using the 2025 Human Trafficking Prevention Month Toolkit from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office on Trafficking in Persons. The toolkit provides educational materials, social media content, email templates, focus weeks, customizable presentations, collaboration guidance and resources to support your outreach efforts throughout the month.
Another valuable resource is the Department Homeland Security, The Blue Campaign, a national public awareness initiative, that offers educational materials to help recognize indicators of human trafficking and respond appropriately. You can find many resources for different groups to educate them about human trafficking and forced labor. These resources include posters, flyers, infographics, and training programs tailored for various audiences such as law enforcement, healthcare providers, educators, and the general public. The Blue Campaign offers free materials available in different languages at no cost upon request.
The National Human Trafficking Hotline also offers downloadable resources, including a flyer in 23 languages and a wallet-sized card in 13 languages.
Together, we can strengthen our communities and protect vulnerable populations from exploitation.
