Welcome to Our January Newsletter!

Dear All! Happy New Year!

As we welcome 2025, we wish you all a joyful and healthy year. We're excited for what’s ahead, with many new activities and programs planned to bring our English-speaking community in Lévis closer together.

One of our key goals this January is to share the second edition of our Mental Health Newsletter, along with updates on our employability program at MCDC.

To support these growing initiatives, we are hiring for two roles: Senior Wellness Coordinator (SSEN) and Executive Assistant (MCDC). Check out our social media channels for job postings, and if interested, please send your resume to director@mcdc.info by January 10.

We also have some staff changes to share. Sadly, Olena will be leaving us on January 15. We sincerely thank her for her dedication in building a strong community over the past year. At the same time, we’re thrilled to welcome Moumy back, who will take over programs for children, families, youth, and the community.

It’s an exciting new year! Together, let’s keep building a vibrant English-speaking community in Lévis. Stay tuned for more updates!

Warm Regards,

SSEN Team

This special session will be led by Verity Jordan, Mental Health Program Coordinator at the Wellness Centre.

📅 Date: Thursday, January 30, 2025.

🕔 Time: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.

📍 Location: New Liverpool Elementary School, 1575 Chemin du Sault, Lévis G6W 2M2.

This training is open to everyone in the community who wants to enhance their understanding of how to support others’ well-being. It’s especially valuable for school staff, community workers, volunteers, peer support workers, addiction counselors, caregivers, and anyone interacting with individuals facing challenges. While not intended for health professionals, it provides practical tools to promote healthy living, self-care, and stronger community connections.

As a group, you will complete two mandatory training courses designed to help you:

  • Recognize warning signs of deteriorating health and well-being.
  • Guide individuals toward appropriate services or assistance.

Upon completing the session, participants will receive a Pathfinder Toolkit and a certificate of completion.

By offering this training on the South Shore, we aim to make it more convenient for local residents to participate and gain these valuable skills.

Becoming a Pathfinder is a meaningful way to support our community. Whether you are a volunteer or simply interested in this topic, this training offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the well-being of others. We look forward to seeing you there! Together, let’s build a stronger network of care and connection!

New Program for Parents:

Triple P Parenting Seminars offered by Jeffery Hale Wellness Centre!

We are excited to share a great new program for parents with children ages 12 and under in our community. Jarryd Smith and Jessica Price from the Jeffery Hale Wellness Centre have recently become certified to lead Triple P parenting seminars, offering valuable resources for English-speaking families in our region.

The first seminar will be held in-person on January 15, and we encourage all parents to take part in this fantastic opportunity to learn positive parenting strategies for raising resilient and confident children.

The seminars will be delivered in a pizza and parenting format:

  • Pizza served at 5 PM, with the seminar starting at 5:30 PM sharp.
  • Each session will last 90 minutes, including time for questions.

Here’s the schedule for the upcoming seminars:

🍕 The Power of Positive Parenting – January 15, 2025.

🍕 Raising Confident, Competent Children – February 26, 2025.

🍕 Raising Resilient Children – March 19, 2025.

We encourage everyone to share this information with parents in our community who may benefit from these seminars. This program is a great resource for parents to develop positive strategies and build strong connections with their children.
