Happy New Year and Welcome Back!
I hope you enjoyed your holiday break. I look forward to having students back in the building on January 6th to finish our first semester of learning. Students will be demonstrating their continued growth the week of January 13th, when we begin the second round of iReady testing. These results will continue to be used to enhance learning opportunities and planning. Star Center students have been shining through the first semester and I am looking forward to supporting your children and our amazing staff throughout the rest of the year.
Wishing you happiness and health in the New Year!

4K Enrollment Information
4-Year-Old Kindergarten (4K) 2025-2026 Enrollment Begins January 6, 2025
Hooray for 4K! We are pleased to offer a top-quality, comprehensive 4K child development program to all 4-year-old children. Both our full-day and half-day programs are designed to nurture each child's social, emotional, and early literacy skills. The 4K program is offered at Central-Denison Elementary School and Star Center Elementary School. To be eligible for 4K, a child must be 4 by September 1 of the school year.
You can enroll your 4K student in a full-day or half-day program at Lake Geneva Schools. The added time of the full-day program allows our young students to enjoy enrichment time while continuing to learn academically through a play-based curriculum. Don't worry; students also have plenty of time for snacks, rest, and recess. The half-day option will take place in the morning only. Please note that bus services will NOT be available after the half-day 4K program.
We are excited to watch your child blossom and grow in our 4K program.

When to Keep Your Child Home:
To support a healthy school environment, we ask families to keep children home if they have any of the following symptoms:
- Fever of 100.4°F or higher
- Persistent cough
- Vomiting or diarrhea
- Sore throat, especially with fever
If your child has a fever, they will need to be promptly picked up from school and will need to remain home the next school day and should be fever-free for at least 24 hours without medication before returning to school. This helps prevent the spread of illness and keeps our students healthy.
We appreciate your support in helping to keep our buildings as healthy as possible during cold & flu season.

Reminder: all treats for birthday celebrations need to be store-bought with the nutrition label present on the packaging. This is to ensure the safety of our students that have allergies and other medical needs!

One of the biggest ways you can help your child succeed this school year is to make sure your child gets to school on time (between 8:20-8:35 a.m.) each and every day. The evidence is clear: children with good attendance are more likely to be successful in school. High attendance rates are linked to high student achievement. Every day counts, and missing school even 10% of the time has a significant negative impact on reading and math achievement as children progress through school. We want to ask for your commitment to making sure your child attends school every day possible this year.
When your child does have to be absent from school, we ask that you communicate with us about the absence. When your child will be absent, you have two communication options:
Call or email Mrs. Aronson in the main office at 262-348-7000 to speak with her and/or leave a message by 9:00 AM each day.
You may log in to PowerSchool to record the reason for your child’s absence. Please see the directions linked here.
We also ask that you let us know about pre-planned absences, including vacations and doctor appointments, ahead of time. When missing school for an appointment, it is always encouraged that you get documentation of your visit to provide to the school as verification. When leaving for an extended vacation (3 or more days), we also ask that you complete the Planned Absence Request Form. This form can also be obtained from Mrs. Aronson in the office.
Lastly, please also note that, as a school, we are required to track student attendance and support families with any attendance issues or concerns. Our highest priority is to have students at school, and we are willing to help in any way we can. As a parent, it is important to understand the current State of Wisconsin attendance laws stated below:
A parent or guardian may only excuse their child/children for 10 days during the school year, including doctor visits. After these 10 days, an absence can only be excused if the school is provided with a note from a doctor, dentist, court, etc. The same guidelines apply to excessive tardies.
Once a student has been absent for 7 days (excused or unexcused), parents/guardians will receive a letter noting the absences as well as procedures for the next steps to improve attendance.
Thank you in advance for your commitment and support to your child’s attendance this school year.

Student Drop-Off & Pick-Up
|
MORNING DROP-OFF INFORMATION:
Just a reminder that you may NOT drop off before 8:20 A.M. There is no student supervision before that time. We encourage all families to use our drop off zones located in the back of Star Center. SEE MAP ABOVE
PICK-UP INFORMATION:
If you are picking up your child at the end of the day, a parent or guardian needs to call the office at 262-348-7000 before 2:30 P.M. or send a note with the student to let us know. Please use the pick-up zone located in the back of Star Center. SEE MAP ABOVE
BUS CHANGE INFORMATION:
If your child's normal bus routine changes, we require a note or a phone call by a parent or guardian to the school, 262-348-7000, to make that change. Please do so before 2:30 p.m. Please call the school, not the bus company.

Whom do I contact with a question or suggestion?
Lake Geneva Schools’ communication protocols help promote direct, open, and respectful interactions so that we quickly and efficiently resolve problems and concerns. The communication protocol starts with the staff member closest to the situation, as that person usually has the most information. However, at times, additional personnel are required to resolve specific concerns.
Click here for more information and to view the Lake Geneva Schools Communication Matrix.

In the interest of school safety,
we kindly ask that parents and families refrain from entering the building during drop-off and pick-up times. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
We use a “Kiss and Go” model. If you need help with separation, Mrs. Chironis or any of the Star Center staff will be happy to gently guide your child to their classroom.
If you need to bring something to school, please bring it directly to the office, and we will happily deliver it to your child.
Parental support is very important to ALL of the students and staff. We welcome you to volunteer in whatever ways you can. If you are interested in helping at school or want to volunteer for school events, please complete the VOLUNTEER APPLICATION AND CONSENT FORM. It is available on the district website or from the school office.
