New year, new projects, new books, new adventures, new goals...I'm excited for what 2025 has in store for our New Mexico libraries. We have the Mother Goose on the Loose trainings coming up very soon, the in-person Summer Reading workshops, and our brand new NMSL online training calendar to make registering easy! I'm reworking plans for our YS meetings and Book Club - stay turned for more.

March - National Women's History Month
Learn about impactful women of New Mexico from the New Mexico Historic Marker Program, and search for women from your area on the interactive map.
March 2 - Read Across America Day
Sponsored by NEA, Read Across America is now a yearlong celebration of reading, but March 2 is still celebrated. You can find extensive resources on the Read Across America site including event ideas and many book recommendations and reading lists.

NM State Library LIS Collections
You can request books from our New Mexico State Library Library and Information Science Collection - including Mother Goose on the Loose - using the InterLibrary Loan system available to public libraries. If you are local to Santa Fe, you can come in (get yourself a card) and checkout in person.
You can keep up with new additions to our collections using the New in Library and Information Science Libguide maintained by the NMSL Public Services Department.

Peggy Barber Tribute Grant
Applications Open: Dec 2, 2024 - Feb 2, 2025
The Peggy Barber Tribute Grant is an annual grant of the American Library Association (ALA) that recognizes, promotes, and supports meaningful programs in libraries that have limited and/or no access to budgetary support for programming. The grant, named after the late library leader Peggy Barber, aims to help ease library budget challenges by awarding three libraries $2,500 to support a proposed program, program series, or programming effort.
