Transitioning Back to Campus Life After Winter Break πŸ“š

Getting back into school mode after winter break can be challenging. Students may experience a mix of emotions during this transition, like nervousness, excitement, sadness, and joy.

Make the transition smoother by reflecting on your fall semester experience and the changes you want to make, establishing a routine, prioritizing sleep, starting coursework on time, taking breaks, and giving yourself time to adjust to campus life.

If you need support, don't wait too long to ask for help. The best time to get tutoringhealth coaching, or mental health counseling is before you feel overwhelmed. Check out this Instagram post for more details.

Access Eye Care on Campus πŸ‘“

Did you know that with your SHIP benefits, you have access to eye care services through the UC Berkeley Eye Care Center? There are two eye clinics conveniently located on campus, one at the Tang Center and the other at the Meredith W. Morgan University Eye Center.

Students with SHIP can get an eye exam for only $10. Plus, the UC Berkeley Eye Care Center accepts VSP insurance β€” so even if you’re covered under your parents’ plan, you can still get an eye exam. With over 1,000 frames to choose from, you can select your perfect new glasses or contact lenses right on campus.

Financial Wellness: More Than Just Numbers πŸ’°

Our financial choices are connected to our upbringing, personalities, and perspectives on money. Here are some tips from Vox for building a healthier relationship with money.

  • Practice financial self-compassion: Recognize that everyone makes financial mistakes. If you’re late paying a bill, tell yourself, β€œWhile not ideal, it’s not the end of the world.” Then set bills on autopay and create a reminder to review bills on your calendar.
  • Don’t let shame stop you from seeking help: Feeling ashamed about finances can make it hard to take action. Try using free resources like podcasts, library books, or reach out to the campus Center for Financial Wellness for support.
  • Celebrate your money wins: Pause and give yourself credit for progress. Research shows that experiencing small wins encourages continued positive behavior.
