New Year, New You at a Broward County Park!

As you make your 2026 goals include a regular visit to the more than 60 Broward County parks. Discover the beauty of the outdoors, diverse adult and kids' programs, and recreational fun for everyone at our parks, nature centers, and natural areas. Start off January 1 with our guided hikes at Anne Kolb Nature Center from 10:30 to 11AM and at Long Key Natural Area & Nature Center from 10 to 11AM. This is Your Park, Your Way!

Broward County Park Holiday Hours

All Broward County regional and neighborhood parks, nature centers, and natural areas will be open for New Year's Day on Thursday, January 1, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 19. The regional parks' holiday gate fee of $3/vehicle (8 or fewer occupants) will be effect.

  • January 2 - Nature Walk at Secret Woods Nature Center.
  • January 3 - Bike and Hike at Kristin Jacobs Natural Area at Hillsboro Pineland. Register here for this program.
  • January 3 - Art Outdoors at Secret Woods Nature Center.
  • January 4 - Observe birds in their natural habitat with an experienced birder at Tall Cypress Natural Area. Register here for the free program.
  • January 10 - Saturday Stroll & Learn: Ferns at Fern Forest Nature Center.
  • January 10 - Natural Journaling: Guided Hike at Long Key Natural Area.
  • January 18 - Birding in Natural Areas at Military Natural Area. Register here for this program.
  • January 18 - Art in the Park at Fern Forest Nature Center. This workshop is sponsored by a grant provided by Broward County Cultural Division. Call Park to preregister.
  • January 24 - Turtle Walk at Highlands Scrub Natural Area. Register here for this free program.
  • January 11 - Mangrove Adventure Hike at Anne Kolb Nature Center. Register here for this program.
  • January 24 - Natural Journaling: Turtles at Kristin Jacobs Natural Area at Hillsboro Pineland. Register here for this program.
  • January 25 - Guided Nature Hike at Long Key Natural Area.

  • January 17 & 18 - Model Steam Train Rides at Tradewinds Park & Stables.
  • January 17 - Micro-apiary open house at Tradewinds Park & Stables.
  • January 24 - Kids Program* at Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium.
  • January 27 - Niños en la Naturaleza* at Highlands Scrub Natural Area.

Communications Board at

Miramar Pineland

Join us for a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Communications Board at Miramar Pineland playground and splash pad on January 23 at 10AM. A communication board is a visual tool that can feature pictures, symbols, numbers, words, or other graphics that help individuals who are non-verbal or with limited speech, express their needs, choices, and feelings by pointing to images.

Parks After Dark

January Night Hikes


Experience nature's nightlight during a guided walk:

  • Bat Walk on January 2 at Tradewinds Park & Stables
  • Night hike on January 16 at Helene Klein Pineland Preserve and Long Key Nature Center.

The program is $5/person.

Eco Action Volunteer Work Days

Helping our parks by volunteering to clean up trash, remove invasive species, and plant native plants is essential for a healthier community and environment. We have regularly scheduled EcoAction Days every Saturday of the month at various parks and nature centers.
