Department of Public Works

Residents and commercial property owners are reminded that the City Ordinance (Chapter 12, Streets and Sidewalks, Section 12.5 - Snow and Ice) prohibits anyone from depositing ice or snow from private property onto the City streets or sidewalks. Residents and commercial property owners are asked to remind their private snow plow operators that the snow from their driveways or parking lots may not be pushed into the City streets or sidewalks. This activity inhibits pedestrians from safely accessing those City sidewalks, forcing them to walk in the streets, which is an unsafe situation. Public Works staff will be monitoring compliance throughout the City and will be paying particularly close attention to businesses and retail properties along the High Street corridor.
