Many of those in our community faced challenges and difficulties with SNAP food benefits due to the government shutdown. DEAF, Inc. staff gathered and provided information on food resources, including food bank locations in the Boston, Salem, Lawrence and New Bedford. Supporting people to understand the government shutdown, and how it affected SNAP food benefits. Without SNAP, local food banks were essential to provide food for people and their families. MCDHH Service Navigators were partners in this effort to make sure our communities had food. |

Hello! My name is Aisha (pronounced Asia). I began my externship back in September 2025. Part of the requirement for my Deaf Studies. Before this, I had very little knowledge of what DEAF, Inc. did. Being here expanded my understanding of what the Deaf community needs and how I can help. I am very grateful for the experience and hope to continue helping the Deaf community in whatever way best supports them.
