Recycling Service Update
As you may know from my previous update, the Provincial government is now overseeing recycling and has changed who is responsible for recycling. Circular Materials now manages recycling services in Brampton, Caledon, and Mississauga. Peel Region still collects garbage, organics, and yard waste.
In a recent communication, Circular Materials asked residents to place all recyclables loose in their recycling bin to support collection starting March 1, 2026. This includes not leaving extra materials outside of the bin. Circular Materials has advised that residents who consistently experience a high volume of recycling during their collection cycles can request an additional recycling container for free here. Please note that additional recycling containers are to support residents that consistently exceed recycling volume and are not intended for occasional material surplus. For occasional material surplus, Circular Materials asks that residents hold onto their material until the next collection cycle.
Circular Materials will continue to collect additional recycling overflow until the end of May 2026. After this time and starting June 1, 2026, additional material will need to be placed in the recycling bin for collection.
Please also note, residents who currently use clear plastic bags for recycling collection due to space limitations at their property (who have previously been approved for bag-based recycling collection) may continue to do so, and your recycling will continue to be collected as usual.
For questions related to recycling bin inquiries, missed collections, and what you can recycle, contact GFL at peelrecycling@gflenv.com or 1-877-268-4351. For concerns or other recycling-related questions, contact Circular Materials at customerservice@circularmaterials.ca or 1-877-667-2626.

School Suspensions Related to Vaccinations
Under Ontario’s Immunization of School Pupils Act, students can be suspended from school if their vaccination records are incomplete. Suspension only takes place when the required information is not provided by the deadline in the letters you receive. Students may be suspended up to 20 days.
If a student is missing vaccines, you’ll receive 2 letters and a suspension notice over a three-month period. This gives families time to submit documentation or catch up on vaccinations before the suspension date. If you receive a suspension order
· Check your child’s vaccination record online to make sure it is up to date.
· If your child has received vaccines but the record isn’t up to date, report the missing vaccinations. Doctors do not report vaccinations to Peel Public Health.
· If your child needs to receive missing vaccinations, make an appointment with your doctor or health care provider.
If you have questions, call Peel Public Health at 905-799-7700 or toll free at 1-888-919-7800.
