January 2026 Newsletter

Happy New Year! 🎉 Mark your calendars for our 2026 quarterly in-person LWPC coalition meetings, as we introduce a refreshed format designed to bring new energy and purpose to each gathering throughout the year! Moving forward, each quarter will follow a distinct theme: the first meeting will focus on lending helping hands in the community, the second will feature a panel-style discussion on a key health topic, the third will offer a skill-building training, and the fourth will bring partners together for shared reflections, celebration, and collaboration around the year’s accomplishments and what’s ahead. 2026 meeting details:

Bemnet Melaku, MPH

Tobacco Free Living Coordinator

Cincinnati Health Department Healthy Communities Programs

Bemnet is a Public Health Educator for the Tobacco Free Living program on the Cincinnati's Health Department's Healthy Communities Team, where she focuses on reducing tobacco use and promoting healthier, smoke-free environments. As she steps into this new role, she intends to center her work on advancing education, policy, systems, and environmental strategies that address the root causes of tobacco-related disparities and support equitable health outcomes.
