Half Moon Bay Bridge Public Information Meeting
Date: Monday, January 5, 2026
Time: 6:00 pm
Location: via Zoom
Join the Village of Croton-on-Hudson and Tectonic Engineering for an update on the planned reconstruction of the Half Moon Bay Bridge. The presentation will provide an overview of the project and an opportunity to learn more about the upcoming work. Best of Westchester Nominations
Calling all residents! Nominate your favorite business in Croton-on-Hudson and get them on the ballot! All nominations must be in by January 15, 2026.
Click here to learn more and to see the full list of groups and categories. The top six vote-getters in each category move onto a final round.
The Final Ballot is live from February 18, 2026, to March 13, 2026.

Heat Issues
Residents who live in rental units within the Village boundaries who experience no heat issues should contact the Village Code Enforcement Dept. during regular office hours from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm at 271-4783. If the situation occurs outside of office hours, contact the Police Dept. at 271-5177.
Code enforcement personnel will visit the location to measure the temperature and contact the owners as necessary.
This applies to all rentals, including two-family houses, where the owner does not live on-site.
Alarm Permit Reminder
The Village Code requires that all alarm systems be registered. The annual alarm permit renewals will be mailed during the month of January. The renewal fee for residential properties is $50 and for non-residential properties is $100.

Quarterly utility bills were mailed in December and are payable by Wednesday, January 15th without penalty. The bill includes both the water and sewer fees. As a reminder, bills can be paid online by going to the Village website, may be mailed to the Municipal Building or paid in person at the Village office. Questions regarding your bill should be directed to the Finance office at (914) 862-1419.

Election Results for Croton Fire Department and Croton EMS
The Croton-on-Hudson Volunteer Fire Department held their annual election in December. The members of the fire department elected Christopher Colombo as Chief of Department, Christopher Caterino as First Assistant Chief and Joseph Streany as Second Assistant Chief.
The Croton Emergency Medical Services also elected their slate of officers for the upcoming year. The following officers were elected: Tiffany Gilleo as Captain, Stacy Conklin, as First Lieutenant, and David Kreilsheimer as Second Lieutenant.
The Village extends congratulations to the officers of both organizations and thanks all our volunteers for their service!

CHHS Distinguished Graduate
Congratulations to Chief of Police John Nikitopoulos, who was inducted into the Croton Harmon High School Hall of Distinguished Graduates on November 24, 2025.
In attendance were members of the police department, the Village Manager, Bryan Healy and Carolyn Whiting, chair of the Police Advisory Committee.
Chief Nikitopoulos, a member of the CHHS Class of 1977, has served on the Croton-on-Hudson PD since 1986 and spent time visiting classrooms at the high school to speak with current students.

Christmas Tree Recycling
The Village’s Department of Public Works will pick up discarded Christmas trees during the month of January. Trees should be placed curbside and be free of all trimmings, tinsel, or wires. Please do not bag discarded trees.

Shoveling Tips and Reminders
Here is a helpful tip on how to shovel and keep your driveway clear without a plow pushing it back in front of your driveway. Click here to watch the short video.
A friendly reminder that the Village Code requires the clearing of snow and ice from the full width of the sidewalk 12 hours after the cessation of snowfall. The Village will declare an official end time to each storm, which will be posted on the Village website and social media. Residents can sign up to receive Snow Alerts via email by registering here.

As we look ahead to the 2026 season, the Croton Recreation Department is proud to reflect on an incredible year—made possible by the support of our amazing community! From sports and movement to art and cultural activities, there truly was something for everyone of all ages and interests.
Highlights included a fantastic summer camp season, seven lively outdoor concerts, and ten family-friendly summer entertainment events enjoyed by thousands. Our parks were buzzing with activity all year long—from kayaking on the Croton River and bocce at Black Rock Park to waterfront strolls at Croton Landing and swimming at Silver Lake. A big thank you to the DPW for keeping our parks beautiful and welcoming.
As we celebrate 29 years of providing fun, close-to-home summer programming and entertainment, we thank you for being part of it all.

Summer 2026 Employment Opportunities
Day Camp, Tiny Tots Camp, Lifeguards at Silver Lake and Park Attendants Applications accepted starting January 2, 2026.
Those selected for an interview will be contacted mid-March or early April. Employment decisions will be made in May.
Applicants must be 16 years old as of July 1, 2026. Lifeguards must be 15 years old. Working papers are required for those under 18 years of age and are issued by the school guidance department.
Day Camp/Tiny Tots: Camp Counselors, Art Specialist, Sports Specialist
If you are enthusiastic, dependable and enjoy working with children, then you may be the candidate we are looking for! We are interested in quality staff members who are professional and available to work for the entire camp season.
Lifeguards at Silver Lake: Applicants must have valid certification for Waterfront/Lifeguard/First Aid & CPR for Professional Rescuer. Please include a copy of certifications with your application. The mandatory orientation date will be early June. The applicants must be available to work the entire season, including weekends.
Park Attendants: Silver Lake and Senasqua Park Orientation will be in early June. Applicants must be available to work the entire season, including weekends.

Rewilding School at Gouveia Park
The Rewilding School presents unique family programming in collaboration with The Village of Croton Recreation Department at Gouveia Park. Join in on outdoor, nature-based activities where youth and families will learn new skills and grow through imaginative exploration, building a deeper connection to the earth. Healthy & Fun Cooking with Alyssa

Presented in partnership with Feeding Westchester, this free program features a cooking demonstration paired with practical nutrition tips. Offered in partnership with the Croton-Harmon Union Free School District, this session provides one-on-one smartphone help with a PVC Student Council member. Whether your phone is brand new, you have questions about apps, or you want to better understand basic features, this program is designed to help. Pre-registration is requested. No fee. Travelogue Series Presentation
Chase away the winter blues as we experience beautiful and diverse destinations. Watch a short travelogue exploring the culture, art and landscapes of various world destinations. Afterwards enjoy conversation and a tasty treat inspired by the destination.

22nd Annual Teatown Hudson River EagleFest®
Date: Saturday, February 7, 2026
Time: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Location: Croton Point Park
Join Teatown for an all-day celebration at Croton Point Park as Bald Eagles descend upon the Hudson River during their annual winter migration. The program features live bird shows spotlighting birds of prey, guided bird walks with spotting scopes to view eagles, heated tents with educational displays and exhibits, crafts and games for children, food trucks, and more. A snow date is scheduled for Sunday, February 8, 2026. Please note that this event is held at Croton Point Park, not at Teatown. Specific times of shows at the event will be available on the Teatown website.
