Housing - The Special Blend of Two Businesses - Safaris With A Heart and RE/MAX Results

The Birth of Safaris With A Heart: For over two decades at RE/MAX Results, I participated in the management/executive management of the Results family of real estate, title, and mortgage companies. During this time, in 2011, I began my Tanzanian East African travel and charity work. On the way to the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro for the first time (19,341 feet), I knew that this was a most amazing adventure and knew I would return. I had fallen in love with Tanzania and its people. I set off on a journey to share my exceptional experiences with others while improving the lives of the Tanzanian people of the Kilimanjaro region. Over the past 15 years, thousands have heard my story and joined my quest, and I have personally accompanied hundreds to enjoy Tanzania’s vast splendors.

Safaris With A Heart currently: 2026 will represent the greatest reach for Safaris With A Heart. We now offer dozens of tour adventures in multiple African countries. I addition to taking families, friends and teams of people to Mount Kilimanjaro, Safaris With A Heart also offers safari tours to the Serengeti and the best of the National Park circuit; the Jane Goodall Chimpanzees in the remote jungles of the Congo border; tropical Zanzibar and Mafia island; Gemstones; Culture Immersion; Extended Tours to South Africa, Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls), Uganda and Rwanda Mountain Gorillas and more! There are experiences and price ranges for every budget!

RE/MAX Results: As a resident of Rockford, I remain active in real estate sales. My business reach extends throughout the greater Twin Cities area.

Housing - The Blend of Two Businesses:

  • In the Swahili language, Safari means “to travel”.
  • The “Heart” of Safaris With A Heart is our Tanzanian charity initiatives.
  • Travel + Charity.
  • With proceeds from our tours and private donations, we provide specialized housing and higher education for Maasai Tribe families with special needs children.
  • The “Heart” of my real estate business is to fund the housing initiatives of Safaris With A Heart.
  • Therefore, both endeavors support housing solutions locally and housing solutions afar – a perfect blend.

Happy New Year!! And just like that, another year has passed and we ring in the New Year welcoming 2026. Many of us have made a resolution that could range from eating healthier, getting more active this year, creating goals and a business plan for your career, being more present with your kids or other family members, striving for a work-life balance, volunteering more, and an array of many other resolutions.

On average, New Year’s Resolutions last less than 4 months with many falling off by Mid-February. Why is this? Well, there is no specific one reason, but many times the specific goal isn’t clear and measurable and life gets busy. I know I am certainly guilty of this too.

For 2026, my wish for all of you is that if you have a goal you are after, that you have huge success in staying on course and making it to the finish line. As President of your local Chamber, my other hope is you may consider part of your 2026 goal to intentionally set time aside in your busy schedules to attend more of our chamber events. Whether it’s one of our Luncheons, Happy Hours, Coffee Events, Expo, Holiday Party other Chamber events throughout the year….. I hope to see you there engaging, networking, connecting, and (most importantly) enjoying your time with other chamber members and community members. I always say your local chamber is only as strong as the members and community that support it. Let’s make 2026 our year to prosper as the local Rockford-Greenfield Chamber together!

Cheerfully and Enthusiastically,

Shannon Sand
