Happy New Year! We hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday season and has returned to the office excited for the year ahead. In this newsletter you will find three open grant opportunities, nonprofit legal services, a free grant database resource, and registration for the upcoming Marketing for Nonprofits training.

We are also including a follow up to our survey on federal funding cuts to nonprofits from last spring. We hope you will take a minute to fill out the quick survey below to help us better understand the needs of local organizations.

Federal Funding Follow Up

Last spring, we surveyed the nonprofit organizations serving Routt & Moffat counties to better understand the funding landscape and operational challenges facing local nonprofits in the face of shifting priorities at the federal level. We received responses form 46 local organizations, and the results of that survey can be found here.

At the time, we were hearing from a lot of nonprofits that there was still uncertainty regarding funding, particularly while looking ahead. We have put together a quick (5 minute) survey to learn how shifts in federal funding priorities impacted your organization's 2025 plans and 2026 budgets.

The survey is only for nonprofits who regularly receive state and/or federal grant funding.

Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund

Our region’s trail systems give residents and visitors unparalleled access to the outdoors. The Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund is a permanent endowment for non-motorized trail and trailhead maintenance projects on public lands within Routt and Moffat Counties.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITY

Wildlife Habitat Improvement Local District (WHILD) Endowment Fund

The WHILD Endowment Fund supports wildlife habitat improvement projects including capital projects, planning, research, studies, management, enforcement, education, and other wildlife habitat improvement projects within the geographic boundaries of Routt County.

Charitable organizations as well as federal, state, or local government agencies may apply for funding through an annual competitive grant cycle with funding recommendations provided by a grant committee.

Moffat County Human Resources Council

The Human Resource Council (HRC) is a group of agency representatives and individuals with a vested interest in local community service affairs. The purpose of the HRC is to provide support funding and information to its members, collaboratively seek financial support, act as a collective voice, coordinate services to avoid duplication, and increase awareness regarding community service needs and activities.

Legal Audit Clinic: Colorado Nonprofit Association

Colorado nonprofits with budgets under $750,000 can apply for a free half-day clinic to strengthen operations and assess organizational health. While the upcoming workshop is at capacity, the Colorado Nonprofit Association will continue to accept applications on a rolling basis. Eligible organizations will be contacted as new openings or future clinic dates become available.

Free Database of State Grants

The Communities Lead Communities Thrive Colorado State Grants for Nonprofits database consolidates state grant opportunities for nonprofits into one place. The database is free and updated bi-weekly, giving nonprofits an opportunity to save time and discover new grant opportunities across various state agencies.

Communities Lead Communities Thrive is a coalition whose mission is to advocate for more equitable access to public funding by small nonprofits across Colorado.
