A new year always invites reflection and possibility. As we turn the page on the calendar, I’m excited to look ahead to what the coming months hold for our library and our community.
The library sits at the special intersection of curiosity and resources. Every day, people walk through our doors (and visit us online) with questions, ideas, and dreams. Our role is to help fuel those dreams by connecting you with the tools, information, and inspiration you need to explore them.
Whether you’re eager to learn about new technology, pick up a cozy new skill like knitting or baking, dive into genealogy, sharpen your job skills, or chase down a brand-new interest you didn’t even know you had yet, the library is here for you. From books and databases to programs, workshops, and one-on-one help, we aim to meet you where you are and support where you want to go.
In the year ahead, you can expect opportunities to learn, create, and connect, along with the welcoming, low-pressure space the library has always provided. We’re committed to being responsive to your needs, curious alongside you, and creative in how we serve our community.
Thank you for making the library part of your life. I hope this year brings you discovery, growth, and maybe even a few delightful surprises, and I hope we get to be part of that journey with you.
Warmly,
Katrina Ireland-Bilodeau
Library Director

The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
| | | | |
A wild and willful young woman finds herself at the center of a tale of spirits, ancient evils, and the mysterious winter-king Frost—in the lyrical first novel of the Winternight Trilogy.
“A beautiful deep-winter story, full of magic and monsters and the sharp edges of growing up.”—Naomi Novik, bestselling author of Uprooted.
Winter lasts most of the year at the edge of the Russian wilderness, and in the long nights, Vasilisa and her siblings love to gather by the fire to listen to their nurse’s fairy tales. Above all, Vasya loves the story of Frost, the blue-eyed winter demon. Wise
| | |
Russians fear him, for he claims unwary souls, and they honor the spirits that protect their homes from evil. Then Vasya’s widowed father brings home a new wife from Moscow. Fiercely devout, Vasya’s stepmother forbids her family from honoring their household spirits, but Vasya fears what this may bring. And indeed, misfortune begins to stalk the village. But Vasya’s stepmother only grows harsher, determined to remake the village to her liking and to groom her rebellious stepdaughter for marriage or a convent. As the village’s defenses weaken and evil from the forest creeps nearer, Vasilisa must call upon dangerous gifts she has long concealed—to protect her family from a threat sprung to life from her nurse’s most frightening tales
