This coming Sunday, February 8, 2026, will be the

5th Sunday after Epiphany.

Scripture Reading will be Matthew 5.13-20, Salt and Light

Sermon Title: We Are the Light

We're hoping to see you this Sunday!

In the event of inclement weather this weekend,

Heritage church closures

will be on WSET by Saturday evening.

Discovery Music

This week's service is framed by two powerful songs that call us deeper into Gods presence. We will open with After Your Heart, a powerful reminder that our faith begins with a longing to follow where God leads. We will close with You Make Me Brave, a declaration of courage and confidence rooted in God's strength. It's God's promise to us that we never walk alone! Please listen, practice, and come ready to sing with the band. Your presence and your praise make our worship richer and more joyful.

CHANGE FOR CHILDREN

Each year, United Women of Faith, Circle 6, has a fundraiser, "Change for Children." This endeavor raises money for women and children right in our local community.

Because of your generous contributions last year, we were able to distribute funds to our Preschool, Jubilee Family Center, and Food for Thought.

Please help us this year by taking a baby bottle home, fill it with your change, currency, or check (made out to Circle 6), and return the bottle to a container in the narthex by March 1.

Marie Daughtrey

President, Circle 6

CarePortal

CarePortal is a system that empowers caring people to work with local agencies to assist vulnerable children and families. Local agencies identify needs and churches respond, strengthening those families and preventing family breakdown. Heritage United Methodist Church is one of those churches in our community using the CarePortal system to help families

in need. We are regularly made aware of needs in our community and can choose to respond. Requests vary. Common requests are for appliances, furniture (beds, dressers, dining sets, sofas), financial assistance (rent, utilities), home repairs, help with transportation (car repair,

gas cards, Uber cards, bus passes), baby items, clothing, household items, and groceries. If you or your small group is interested in helping a family in our community, contact Beth McCoy

(beth.mc.for.short@gmail.com, 582-1253)

Preschool

Registration for the 2026-2027 school year will open on February 2nd at 7:00 am to current HUM Preschool families and HUMC members. Registration will open to the community on February 9th. Visit humpreschool.com/registration for more information.

February 17th is our annual Shrove Tuesday Preschool Family Pancake Dinner. Your whole family is invited to join us from 5:30-7:00pm in the Fellowship Hall. There is no cost for dinner, but donations will gladly be accepted for the Preschool's general fund. Please join us for this fun family event!

As we enter the sacred season of Lent, our church family will gather for a meaningful Ash Wednesday service on Wednesday, February 18th at 6 PM. This quiet, reflective time invites us to pause, pray, and open our hearts to God's renewing grace. This brief service will include scripture, prayer, a hymn, and the imposition of ashes. Invite your neighbor or friend to come with you.

Welcome Center on Sunday Mornings!

We are seeking volunteers to help with our Sunday morning hospitality. On Sunday mornings, snacks, coffee, and water are available in the Welcome Center before each service. Pre-packaged snacks are readily available and should be supplemented with fresh items you can easily pick up at your local grocery store. Folks who sign up need to have the Welcome Center ready at 8:45 and clean up after the worship service. More volunteers are needed to buy and put out the snacks on Sunday mornings, make the coffee, and clean up after the worship service (typically takes 15 minutes). More specific directions will be posted in the hospitality kitchen off the narthex. If you can help with hospitality this way, please click the link

Our 2026 Flower Calendar for our gorgeous Sanctuary is updated, refreshed, and has more blank spots than filled. Thank you to those who have called to donate.

If you're able to help, please reach out to Dianne in the Office soon to choose a date. Your gift of flowers truly lifts our worship space and blesses our whole church family, especially our homebound members. Thank you! 434-239-4291
