Care Support Boxes/Bags for those suffering at home from Covid

Which commandment is the first of all?” 29 Jesus answered, “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; 30 you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” 32 Then the scribe said to him, “You are right, Teacher; you have truly said that ‘he is one, and besides him there is no other’; 33 and ‘to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength,’ and ‘to love one’s neighbor as oneself.’

CONCERN: We would like to respond to requests from Covid-positive parishioners with moderate symptoms who are being asked to isolate/quarantine at home to avoid overflowing hospitals. Afflicted Households are unable to pick up supplies because of contagion and quarantine so we would like to help you out.
GOAL: To keep as many Covid-positive people out of the hospitals as possible
PLAN: Create "COVID SUPPORT BOXES/BAG" with 14 days of supplies, which will help Covid-positive people manage their symptoms at home.

The boxes/bags will focus on the following in order of priority and based on supply:
  • Oxygen and Temperature Monitors for quantitative measurement of symptoms
  • PPE- gloves, masks for everyone in household
  • Disinfecting/Sanitization Products
  • Hydration and Electrolyte Support - Electrolyte packets to mix with water
  • Acetaminophen, Daytime and Nighttime Cold OTC
  • Vitamins - D, C, and Zinc

We are working with Greater Yavapai County Coalition to put this program into place.
It's time to put our thoughts and prayers in a Box/Bag!
If you would be willing to love your neighbors as yourself and help by providing any items from the list above for these boxes/bags, we would be extremely grateful. Please contact Deacon Kimball at 928-273-3004 - cell and we can arrange to pick up your generous donations or if you are at the church you could mark them for COVID assistance and drop them off Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

May God bless you for loving your fellow parishioners.

In Christ's love,
Deacon Kimball Arnold and the Outreach Commission

My apologies to all who were at the Wednesday Healing Service on Jan. 20. It was a regretful mistake that happened when I started another Zoom meeting before your Zoom Healing Service was over. Learned that lesson the hard way. Again my sincere apologies. Lauree Birchmeier

What You Eat Affects Your Immune System
Julie M. Cargill, R.N., A.N.P., retired
I wrote last month about ways to strengthen your immune system, one significant factor being your digestive system. Because of the complexity of this topic, I have separated that content to this month’s article.

I have found a lot of information available in journals and online articles. As always, one needs to be watchful of the source of the written material, and it is helpful if the content is verified by more than one source.

For the sake of space, I will substitute the term “gut” to include the digestive system, which constitutes everything from oral ingestion to elimination through the bowel. I will review the importance of gut integrity, and the relationship between gut and food products, and give some general recommendations about diet choices.
