Note from Jean Behnke
Dear Parents,

January is rapidly coming to a close and soon teachers and families will be planning for our February vacation week. I write today to provide information about how the school will approach February vacation during the pandemic.

Passport to Winter Fun Is Back!
For the twelfth year in a row, Crossroads is participating in the Upper Valley Trails Alliance Passport to Winter Fun program! This incentive-based fitness program encourages children and their families to get outside for at least one hour every day during the long winter.

Crossroads Giving
Thanks to all of you, Crossroads Fund is off to a great start! Why is my participation important? The tradition of giving at Crossroads is strong. At any level, your gift to the Crossroads Fund demonstrates your commitment to our school and its continued success. Participation by our entire community speaks volumes, generates enthusiasm, encourages others to give generously, and sets an example of giving back for our students. Help us meet our goal of $175,000 and 100% participation in the Crossroads Fund.
COVID Updates
Health Office Update
As of yesterday, Grafton county has 287 identified active cases of COVID-19. Lyme has zero active cases, Hanover has 22 active cases, and Lebanon has 27 active cases.
Study: In-school transmission of SARS-CoV-2 rare in schools implementing safety measures
During our Parent COVID Task Force ZOOM call earlier this month, we discussed returning to school in-person amidst the higher active cases in Grafton county and New Hampshire. The Crossroads COVID Task Force presented recent research from Duke University and the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill showing that transmission of coronavirus in schools is rare, or at least much lower than local community transmission rates, in those schools enforcing multiple mitigation layers.

If you know a Vermonter who is 75 years old and older, please offer to assist with scheduling their COVID vaccine. Assisting someone through the scheduling process may be a useful way you could help; further, it will get you familiar with the process for when it is your turn. Getting someone scheduled does not obligate them to get the vaccine. They may always cancel their appointment or simply not show up. Although the vaccine is free of charge, you may want to ensure their insurance card is handy while scheduling.

New Hampshire Vaccine Update: Scheduling COVID Vaccine Continues
If you know someone in New Hampshire who is  ≥65 years old and older, or with two or more comorbidities of any age, please offer to assist them with registering for their COVID vaccine.

Please pass this information along to your loved ones, family, friends, and neighbors who fall into any of the 1B categories, so they may register.
