YOUTH SUNDAY

January 28 is Youth Sunday, a service planned and led by our Jr. and Sr. High youth. This is always a very special service for our Dayspring congregation. You don't want to miss what they have to say!

REMEMBERING DEBBIE CHAMNESS

A memorial service for Debbie Chamness, daughter of Jim and Sandi Chamness, will be held this Saturday, January 27, at 2:00pm in the Tempe Sanctuary. Please keep her family and friends in your prayers during this difficult time.

UNITY WALK

The 18th annual Regional Unity Walk is Saturday, January 27! Enjoy a short, one mile walk that begins and ends at Tempe Beach Park with residents of neighboring communities. A festival starts at 4:30pm with music, food and fun. The walk starts at 6pm. Get a free t-shirt and walk for unity, mutual respect and understanding. more

CONFIRMATION

We'll have an interest meeting for youth and their parents in 7th grade and up interested in learning more about our Confirmation program on Sunday. Classes will be on Sundays from February 4 through May 5. All families interested in confirmation should plan to attend the meeting after the service on January 28th. Please email Julie and Sam with questions.

TAIZÉ SERVICE

Imagine the scene: Silence… The lights of Fellowship Hall are dimmed… Candlelight surrounds you… Chanting words over and over again until the words fill your soul… Time to Meditate… Silence… Time for you… Time for you and God… This is a Taizé prayer service.

Join us at 4pm on Sunday, January 28, in the Fellowship Hall for this special time.

BURN CITY STRING QUARTET

On Sunday, January 28, at 3pm, our Quartet-in-Residence, the Burn City String Quartet, will present the second program of their three-concert series at Dayspring Tempe. The program includes works by Amy Beach, one of the first American women to gain prominence as a composer, and Prokofiev, best known for “Peter and the Wolf.” more/tickets

CHURCH PICNIC

Mark your calendars - the Children’s Ministry is hosting a church picnic next Sunday, February 4, at 11:30 at Kiwanis Park in Tempe. There’s no football that day, so you have no excuse not to go! Bring your lunch and enjoy an afternoon at the park with Dayspring Friends. There will be a baked goods competition and children and adults are encouraged to bring their best home-baked treats for everyone to enjoy. We will also have tug of war, potato sack races, kickball, and much more fun! You don’t want to miss it!

FAMILY PROMISE

We host Family Promise, a temporary shelter for homeless families, the week starting February 4. Volunteers are needed to set up, cook, entertain, spend the night, chaperone, and tear down/reset the rooms for Sunday. Please email Michelle or watch for a table on the patio on Sunday mornings to sign up or ask questions.

JAZZ CONCERT

Saxophonist Mary Petrich's deep love for creativity and improvisation has led her to explore both traditional and non-traditional approaches, developing into a very personalized style of playing music. Joined by Claudia Bloom on piano, this inspired duo will feature re-imagined approaches to jazz as well as popular standards and spirituals next Sunday, February 4, at 3pm.

SHARE STORIES ABOUT SACRED CONNECTIONS

“Sacred Earth: Common Ground” is a storytelling event with other faith communities that connects us with the earth and each other. Dayspring Tempe will host this gathering Sunday, February 25, from 2 to 3:30pm. After the welcome and introductions, guests are divided into small groups, where each person is invited to tell a three-minute, personal story about an experience of standing on Holy Ground. Dayspring will be joined by the SEMA Foundation, a Muslim community service organization, and Crosier Village, a Roman Catholic Priory Church. Please RSVP here. To learn more, email Dave or Maureen.
