Community eNews | January 25, 2026 | | Juniors who attended Shalom 2 this week experienced moments of peace, wellbeing, spiritual growth, and deepened community. Blessings to our students heading into Shalom 3 this week as they begin their own journey. | | A Message from the President: | |
Dear Carondelet Community,
As we enter Catholic Schools Week, we pause to celebrate what makes Catholic education and our Carondelet community so special. At the heart of what we offer is a values-based education rooted in faith, purpose, and the dignity of each person. This week is a joyful reminder that alongside academic excellence, we are committed to forming young women of heart, faith, courage, and excellence—and that the meaningful relationships we share are what truly make this place feel like home.
We look forward to celebrating Catholic Schools Week together with a few favorite traditions. There will be a Pancake Breakfast on Wednesday before school and our spirited Winton Games Competition on Friday at lunch. These moments of fun and community are a wonderful way to balance the full pace of the season and celebrate all that our students, faculty, staff, and families bring to Carondelet. More details on the week’s events are shared below—we look forward to the celebrations!
At the same time, this is a particularly busy stretch of the year. Our college counselors will be working with your student(s) individually to advise on course recommendations for the coming year. We encourage you to continue these conversations at home with your student as the planning process continues.
We would also like to extend a special prayer to our junior students, faculty, and staff that are attending our January Shalom retreats. May this time apart offer rest, reflection, and renewed sense of peace and wholeness, and may they return strengthened with practices that help them carry Shalom into their daily life.
We are deeply grateful for our Catholic community and for our families’ partnership. Your support and trust help make Carondelet the special, mission-centered place it is for our young women.
In unifying love,
Jessica Mix ‘99
President

Safety and Awareness for "Assassin" Game
Each spring, many Bay Area high school seniors participate in a game called “Assassin,” where teams use Nerf-style toy guns to “eliminate” assigned targets. In past years, this game has been played by seniors at Carondelet and De La Salle although it is not sanctioned, supported, or approved by either school.
The game, which lasts several weeks, follows varying rules but is prohibited on school campuses and during school hours. While intended as harmless fun, it may alarm community members unaware of its nature. Because of this, we urge our students to consider how their actions and behavior, related to this game, can be interpreted by community members who see students with potentially dangerous weapons, often chasing each other, and surprising their “targets” in public or in their neighborhoods. We encourage parents and guardians to speak with their daughter(s) to ensure that they are not compromising common sense and care for the thrill of the game.
