Legislature Set To Pass Federal Relief Spending Bill
The Alabama Senate and House of Representatives passed identical bills Tuesday providing instructions for how the state will spend $772 million from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The bills were considered by committees in the opposite chambers Wednesday with final passage expected Thursday.

The bills call for spending the majority of the federal relief money on broadband; water and sewer projects; and health care. On Tuesday, Alabama Farmers Federation Agricultural Legislation Director Preston Roberts sat down with Sen. Greg Albritton, R-Atmore, about the pending legislation. Albritton chairs the Senate Finance and Taxation General Fund Committee, which originated the bill.
