Focus on Student Learning

Students in Grade 4B are hard at work using little Bits to "Hack my House." Using input bits (pink) to control output bits (green), students are brainstorming ways to modernize and automate the houses they recently built. For example: a pressure sensor that controls a light and sound, which acts as a burglar alarm. These small, magnetic components provide our students with the ability to be creative & to design, test & redesign their inventions easily.

Student Spotlight

Congratulations to 8th grader Julia N., who was invited by the director of her Youth Symphony to participate and represent Peabody School at the high school Wind, Brass, and Percussions Invitational run by faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. This was the 30th year of the event and involved kids all around Virginia. Julia participated in an ensemble group for flute all day and then performed a concert that evening. She had a fantastic time, and we are proud of her!

We also would like to congratulate Kiran for being accepted into the Junior Regional Orchestra! The Junior Regional Orchestra is comprised of students in the 7th, 8th and 9th grades from over 10 counties in central Virginia who audition for acceptance into this ensemble. Their concert will take place at Monticello High School on March 25th, 2017.
