Catholic Schools Week 2020

Believe ~ Lead ~ Learn ~ Serve ~ Succeed

At All Saints Catholic School, we are proud to make Catholic education accessible for all who truly desire it for their children. This week as we celebrate the gift of Catholic education, I invite us to reflect on what it means to truly desire a Catholic education and would suggest our five defining words as the guideline for that purpose.
First and foremost, we are a school where faith is paramount. We believe in the presence of God in each and every person. We speak respectfully and positively toward and about one another. We are committed to community and our participation in the faith life of our school. This includes active participation in school prayer and attendance at Mass, particularly our parish connection Masses.
As leaders, we take the initiative in doing what is right because it is the right thing to do. We come to school on time, prepared with homework complete and in full uniform. Not only do we cooperate and follow school rules, we encourage others to be cooperative to allow for a safe and organized learning environment for all.
Learning is not a passive activity. It is a verb…an action. Students must own their learning. Our teachers provide rich opportunities for students to expand their depth of understanding. As life-long learners themselves, our teachers have learned to use student data to inform instruction and share that data with our children to set growth and achievement goals. Students at All Saints must be committed to doing the work not simply to earn a grade but to expand their minds and understanding.
While often this word speaks to the charity and service that we provide to those in need outside our school, being of service to our school community is essential as well. Service through participation in fundraising and volunteer opportunities is expected as it supports our school and allows us to provide Catholic education. Additionally, it models for our children the importance of building positive relationships through active participation in our school community.
We see success in students mastering the basics of reading, writing, math, science and social studies and applying those skills each day. We see success in students learning appropriate social interaction skills. We see success in Math League placement, Science Olympiad medals, Future Cities awards and sports championships. We see success as well in our graduates who are faith-filled citizens and leaders in our world.

This success is not achieved by the school alone; we cannot take the credit. The success of our children comes as a result of the partnership between home and school. Success comes when the expectations at home and at school are aligned. Education at All Saints is not to be considered buying an education but rather a “buying into” this partnership.

As we are in the re-registration process, it is good for us to not only re-register but to reflect on the commitment made when choosing All Saints Catholic School.

Re-registration for 2020-21 (Espanol)

Future Cities Champions!
The All Saints Future Cities Team was recognized as Outstanding First Year Team at their regional competition in Philadelphia,
Saturday, January 18th.
Congratulations to the middle school Future Cities STEM/STREAM Club Team led by Ms. Susan Small, technology coordinator and Mr. Brandon Dougherty, fourth grade teacher. Our team was recognized as the Outstanding First Year Team at the regional Future Cities competition earlier this month.

The Future City Competition comprises problem-based learning with computer simulation, in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. The program is for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students, who partner with engineer-volunteer mentors to create – first on computer and then in three-dimensional models – their visions of the city of tomorrow.
Future Cities Team members (left to right): John Desmond, Charles Brecht, Gianna Lacombe, Cameron Hartzell, Zoe Heidingsfelder, Sarah Ross, Brianna Tokarski, Olivia Piorkowski, Nicholas Tokarski comprise the Outstanding First Year Team that was recognized at the January 18th competition.
Grant Received from Exxon Mobile
Our STEM programs recently received a grant from Exxon Mobil Corp! Through the Educational Alliance, Exxon and Mobil are fueling young minds and helping create aha moments through the Educational Alliance, which is part of their ongoing effort to support science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education within the communities they serve. When you buy gas from an Exxon -Mobil station, it may come back to support our STEM classes!
atTAcK presents to ASCS Middle School Students
ASCS middle school students recently heard a stirring presentation about the horrors of drug addiction by Mr. Don Keister, founding board member and special projects chairman of atTAcK Addiction, whose mission is to educate young people about the dangers of alcohol and drugs. In 2012, the Keister family lost their son Tyler Armstrong Keister to an accidental drug overdose. Members of the organization speak to schools, prisons, churches and community groups to bring awareness of addiction as a disease, rather than the stigma that is suffered in shame by the person with the disease and their loved ones.

Boxtops Information
Box Tops for Education has entered the digital age

Historically, families have helped All Saints by clipping the Box Tops for Education off of products like cereal boxes and sent them to school.

Now, however, the program has launched an app designed to eventually replace the old system. A new smartphone app, simply called “Box Tops for Education,” allows users to scan their receipts whenever they buy participating products at any store. With each valid receipt scanned, the program donates 10 cents to the school of your choice.

The most popular items will have the new branding on the package by August, 2019.

The Box Tops for Education app is available on Apple’s App Store and Google Play store .

While traditional Box Tops clips are being phased out of production, they may continue to be found on many products throughout the store. You can still clip and send them to school.
Every valid Box Tops clip is worth 10¢ for our school. Make sure each one has a clearly visible product acronym and expiration date.

Box Tops for Education will continue to honor all clipped Box Tops until they expire, so please continue to send in your clipped box tops to school. Simultaneously, please download the app to your phone and start scanning your receipts as you identify All Saints as your school to support!
