Senior Pastor’s Bible Study “The Bible Tells Me So”

Understanding & Interpreting Holy Scripture

6:00 - 7:00pm | The Wright Place

Join us for the second class of our new five-week study, led by Dr. Geoffrey Lentz. Pastor Geoffrey will help to get a better understanding of the natural history of the Bible, how it became scripture (canonization), and how Christians (especially United Methodists) interpret the Bible and apply it to our world. We will find how the Bible is more ancient, diverse, and ambiguous than expected; talk about why some books like the controversial Gospel of Thomas did not make it into the Bible while others did; and address difficult issues of Biblical interpretation like scriptural inerrancy, Biblical literalism, and the Wesleyan Quadrilateral. We offer Wednesday evening nursery for Infants – 2 years old for parents attending classes and choir practice.

Project Nebo - Empowering the Generations

Current Sunday Sermon Series | All Services

On Mt. Nebo, the Lord revealed the promised land to Moses and passed the leadership baton to Joshua—a symbolic transition from one generation to the next. Project Nebo Series will begin with a five-week study of leadership using the story of Moses, Joshua, and Rahab and their call to move forward to the promised land. In the scriptural imagination, Nebo is a place of transition. Project Nebo is designed to help the church talk about the historical generation transition that is occurring and to help each generation discern what God is calling them to do in this season.

DAILY READINGS

Commit this season to reading scripture each day. It's good practice. If you don’t already have a daily devotion, the scriptures below are designed to expand the range of biblical reading in worship and personal devotion. You can find them in the bulletin each week. The Daily Readings are taken from “The Daily Office Lectionary” in The Book of Common Prayer. Read the Bible each week. It will be a blessing.
