Another Storm on the Way - Winter Storm Warning Issued

Earlier this morning, the US National Weather Service Wakefield VA issued a Winter Storm Warning for Gloucester County. Periods of heavy snowfall, high winds, and frigid temperatures will make travel treacherous tonight into tomorrow, so emergency officials are urging residents to stay off the roads during those times if at all possible.

There is also the potential for some power outages with this storm as well as minor to moderate coastal flooding.

According to forecasters, things are still very subject to change with this storm.

Important Information from Gloucester Social Services Regarding Medicaid Recipients

The Gloucester Department of Social Services is requesting that any Gloucester County citizen who receives MEDICAID ONLY AND HAS HAD AN ADDRESS CHANGE SINCE MARCH 2020, contact the Agency immediately to ensure that the Agency has the recipient’s most up-to-date mailing address.

Please call 804-693-2671 and inform the Agency that you are calling to provide an updated mailing address. The receptionist will ask you to verify some information and will gladly update your mailing address.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Medical Assistance (DMAS) has not required a renewal of services since the start of the pandemic. All clients that were receiving MEDICAID have not been required to renew their application as previously required. This will end effective March 2022 and recipients of Medicaid will now be required to go through the renewal process.

In the very near future, DMAS will begin sending letters to all recipients. It is extremely important that recipients receive this information. Since the start of the pandemic, Medicaid recipients may have experienced a change in their mailing address. In order to ensure that recipients receive this very important information, the Agency is taking steps to verify the mailing address of all recipients.
