The University of Georgia has funding available for their Emerging Leaders program which seeks to provide paid internship opportunities to first generation college students and students from diverse racial and economic backgrounds. UGA is requesting partners who would be willing to pay half of the interns stipend with UGA paying the other half. For more information about this program, please call the Chamber at (706) 769-7947.

Community Health Needs Assessment and Implementation Strategy

In accordance with the Affordable Care Act and the IRS, St. Mary's Health Care is conducting a Community Health Needs Assessment and Implementation Strategy.

The Community Health Needs Assessment is an in-depth assessment of many forms of data that ultimately gives St. Mary's the top-10 health needs of their hospitals’ service areas.

Patients and community members that are residents of Oconee County are encouraged to to complete this survey. Please pass this along to your friends, family, church congregations, etc.

American Pest Control Announces Scholarship
Gene Higginbotham Memorial Scholarship Available to Local Seniors
 
American Pest Control, a local family owned and operated company, introduced the Gene Higginbotham Memorial Scholarship in May 2016. Gene Higginbotham founded American Pest Control in 1971. He valued family, education, and community as top priorities for his company. Mr. Higginbotham passed away August 30 th , 2015 and the scholarship was created in his honor by family and employees to continue his legacy.
American Pest Control will continue to offer this scholarship through schools in their wide service area across Northeast Georgia and parts of South Carolina. Applicants must have been accepted to an accredited college or university and have a 3.0 or higher GPA. Students can contact their high school counselor for information and applications. American Pest Control encourages all graduating 2019 seniors to apply!
