Dear St. Rita School Parents and Guardians,
Last week a Family Faith Project was sent home for all school families to complete together during Catholic Schools Week. The purpose of this project was two-fold: first to mark the beginning of the Holy Year of Hope - Jubilee 2025, and secondly to share your family with our St. Rita School family. By completing this activity as a family, you and your children have the opportunity to work together to create a beautiful representation of your home and family and share it with our school community. The Holy Doors projects are starting to come in and have been placed outside the classrooms for all to view. Thank you for helping to create special memories with your child/ren which costs virtually nothing besides your time and talent.
Our winter sports season is beginning to wind down and our teams are doing well. Recently at an away game our student-athletes were complimented for their sportsmanship. What made this extra special was the compliment came from grandparents from the opposing team, who happen to be parishioners of our parish, St. Paul VI . These parishioners made a point to share their experience with Fr. Tiano. Thank you to our school families for supporting our teams in a positive way at games. Unfortunately, throughout the diocese, many schools have been plagued with significant spectator concerns that have disrupted the play of a game, brought the attention of the police, or, at the very least, disregarded this MINISTRY of athletics, particularly at the elementary level. Please continue to share the St. Rita Way with all those you meet.
Our Robotics team will participate in competition this Saturday at East Catholic High School in Manchester. They will join over 60 Robotics teams from all over Connecticut who will participate. Over the next few days our Crusader Crushers will host demonstrations for all our students so they can better understand the multidisciplinary field that combines engineering, science, and technology, to design, build and operate machines called robots. Good luck to our teams.
Thank you to the students and families who attended the kick-off Masses for Catholic Schools Week on Sunday. Special thanks to our altar servers, lectors, choir members, and the parents who gave testimonials. It was a great way to begin our celebration!
This year’s CSW theme - “Catholic Schools: United in Faith and Community” - highlights our focus on academic excellence, faith development, dedication to community service, and future success. We’ve planned a variety of events to show how we are doing as a community.
Thursday - Celebrate Our Vocations - Sr. Anne and Sr. Barbara will be visiting the classrooms and sharing their life story. Sr. Colleen Mattingly, vocations director for the Apostles of the Sacred Heart, will also be speaking with the middle school religion classes.
Friday - Celebrate Our Families/Volunteers - 9:00 Mass at SRC- all are invited. Our Family Faith Activity is due back to your child’s teacher today. Projects will be displayed outside the classrooms for all to view. STUCO will host a pep rally to recognize the accomplishments of our student athletes and robotics team, and to help support Raise Craze. Our faithful volunteers will be thanked and recognized.
Our largest fundraiser of the year, Raise Craze, has officially started. To date 57% of our families have signed up to participate. Thank you for your willingness to get started spreading kindness. If you haven’t registered yet, please do so at:

With the assistance of the HSA, our teachers have many fun kindness activities planned for their students but we encourage your family to spread kindness to people and organizations you interact with daily, as well. Currently families have raised $15,671. Be sure to reach out to your friends and family near and far and ask for their assistance to help HSA reach their goal of $35,000. Together we can make the world a better place, one kind act at a time!!
Together teachers, administrators, staff, students, and parents fuel the light of faith by working to build a spirit of the gospel to benefit the human family. Thank you for your continued support of our wonderful school.
God Bless,
Mrs. Tiezzi
